Will SWA extend credit date?

I have about $500 in SWA credit that is said to be used by June 28. Unfortunately, I don't have anywhere to go and already have trips scheduled.

Is there a fee I could pay SWA to extend the credits? I hate to loose the money but I don't have or need or want to go anywhere right now.

This is a question better suited to flyertalk.com, but my quick answer is that it never hurts to call and ask.

I may have heard something about a fee to extend the expiration date.

I did call SWA, this was a credit issued for us taking a later flight, not frequent flyer rewards. The ff reward can be extended but not the credit.

Dang, she suggested I fly somewhere for lunch.:rolleyes1

I know you can extend credits you recieved for changing to a lower priced fare or cancelled tickets. It's about $50 per ticket.

You can extend your fare credits for 6 months more for a $50 fee. You have to do it within 10 days after the expire date

And what's wrong with that? :rotfl:

I know people used to be allowed to sell these on ebay, not so sure if that's permitted anymore. Craigslist is still an option (I'd look into the "hub" regions though: Texas and Baltimore)

Last June we were flying from SLC-LAX, the flight was not overbooked but too heavy. They asked for volunteers to take a later flight for LUV vouchers. So then I used the voucher to book a flight to MCO. We still have credit left over to use. Then that flight SLC-MCO price was lowered. I have a credit on my credit. I called and explained it carefully, she did put me on hold to check and said no, they can't be extended for fee.

Should I call and try another agent?

Doesn't hurt to try. Maybe the previous agent misunderstood and you have to wait for the credits to expire before you can extend them as previously mentioned.

Once SWA let me use some ticketless travel funds that had expired about a week earlier and they didn't charge me anything. When I realized they had expired, I just called them and they were nice enought to extend it. I couldn't book online. I had to go to the airport and get a voucher. That was about 5 years ago and I wouldn't count on them doing anything like that these days. Do you have any friends/family/co-workers who might be able to use your funds and pay you back? I've done this. You don't have to be the person making the reservation of taking the flight. All they need is your name and confirmation number to use your funds.
