Will Remy and Guardians both be ILL$ this summer?

I wish they would announce what will happen after Aug 7th. I'm going on the 15th and I feel like I can't budget for genie at all *sigh* (Trying to tell my travel buddy how much she should budget)
I think they basically have. Like everything else Disney does, this is all subject to change at any time. But by the terms of their announcements, on August 8, Remy, Space, MMRR, and Everest will go back to ILL$, and each part will have 2 ILL$ rides, presumably until the year-end holiday rush, when those 4 rides will temporarily be moved to G+.

I'm hoping getting Remy and Frozen same day will be doable now. We are doing a morning at Epcot for just Future World (it will be Future World forever) and then an evening for WS. I was planning on a 7 AM ILL for Remy that day and Genie+ for Frozen. Now I hope I can get one at 7 and one two hours after park open on regular Genie+ with no issues. We don't go until late July so at least I have some time to gauge how the return times look.

Or August 8th we will get a Premier Pass.

Maybe someone’s doing the math based on data from Paris as we speak.

This is not the first time I am reading this.

My opinion is that there is no way anyone that has more than 2 brain cells would base their WDW decisions on what is happening in DLP. This is apples and oranges. WDW is 4 parks+2 waterparks, so many resorts and transportations options. Paris is 1 park (and a half if you count the studios :o and basically no other options around, 6 hotels from which you can walk to the park, 1 that requires car transportation and no waterpark (unless you go to Village Nature which is not Disney even if there is a joint venture).

People fly to Orlando for entertainment / theme parks (WDW, Universal, Legoland etc), not to visit Orlando.
Poeple fly to Paris to visit Paris, only pure Disney fans add a DLP visit to their trip.

Most of DLP visitors are either French (around 44%) or Europeans (53% are British, Spanish and Dutch). Only 3% left for US Canadian or Asian visitors. Average stay is 1 to 3 days max. Spending habits of Europeans cannot be compared to WDW visitors.

FYI: Genie+ was tested at Paris and then a few months later introduced at WDW

I would hope that they go back to 2 LLI$ so our costs are back to around $45 a day for at least 3 fast passes pre booked essentially. That’s a cost that was dropped on us during the pandemic (last year).

Then they can price ‘up to’ 6 rides anytime for $50 or $60 and everyone who is currently buying Genie+ AND LLI$ but doesn’t want to get up at 7 am would love it.

It was not the same tho. The $ILL was the whole system. Standby was a VQ with options to buy.
I don’t like the extra cost, but would love not to have to wake up at 7 am and have IT issues every morning for $5-10 extra.

I’ve had to waste so much time dealing with LLI$ and ADR conflicts (and CM attitudes that they were doing us such a huge favor and one time only) that we cancelled our last few days of ADRs.

Genie+ was never tested in Paris. They used VQ to replace standby, it was for covid reasons. DLP never had FP+, they only had paper FP and some specific VIP pass for guests in VIP room / resort suites (also paper based).

Why would you hope to pay more than things are now? The more they put on genie plus the better IMO. Why would I pay for an individual lightning lane if I didn’t have to. There is a real possibility that they will just leave things as they are once August 8 hits.

We’ll see.

I don’t want to pay more, but if you’ve been to the parks recently they’re packed and it’s hard to enjoy the parks without significant waits. I waited over 30 mins in my pajamas to get SDMT fixed at the front desk (I clicked 9:30 am and it changed to something ridiculous like 6 pm which conflicted with dining).

If I’m spending over 10k on a vacation, I’m more apt to spend a little bit extra for some extra benefit (just like after hours events or dessert parties) and less stress. Would I cancel Topolinos or Story Book dining ($300 each) and pay for an Ultimate Genie pass - absolutely

With current transportation/supply chain issues, you need to have some extra money and extra days saved (we had to book a car, hotel, groceries etc for last min flight cancellations)

Significant waits... Welcome to last year without G+ or $ILL. :) That was terrible. ANYTHING is better than that. We never spent so much time in lines at the parks (while riding far less as well) as we did last summer.

So you had problems with your $ILL, but you want more of them? I don't get it. A good part of the reason Disney went from 2 at each park to 1 $ILL in each park were due to the high number of complaints of folks paying for rides and things getting all screwed up (like you experienced, or worse). Moving more to G+ makes it more valuable as well, and a more valuable purchase. Maybe they are working out the kinks with $ILL (they better), but I'll just say that for us, the more on G+ the better.

No way to I want to add $45 to our park days. For our family of 5, for our 8 night stay this summer, that would add $1,800. NO WAY! That's crazy.

Dan

Long-term, I predict one of the following will happen:

1) All rides will be included in Genie+ (no ILL's anymore.) Genie+ would be much more expensive but it would simplify the process for everyone by putting all of the rides in the same system with the same "rules."

2) Eliminate Genie+ but all rides will simply have an alacarte ILL purchase option. Want to skip the line for a particular ride? Book and pay with the app, just like we do for mobile dining orders. The best rides would be more expensive and the least popular rides would be cheap. Prices fluctuating based on demand on a given day, etc. Pay just for the lightning lanes that you want.

Yes the cost is crazy for us. We are a family of 5 and usually stay 7 days. I would only buy it for a few days (2-3). It would force people to shorten trips, so I see why that would benefit Disney (5th day onwards tickets are discounted).

We have been twice last year as well (and Nov 2020) and June 2021 was the worst. We stood 60 mins for POC and JC and exited the park, so Genie+ works great for everyone except me who has to get up every morning and stress out.

Yeah, G+ among other cost increases already shortened our trip from 10 to 8 nights. We gave up park hoppers too. :(

Amen to that. Not looking forward to the pre 7am thing. I'm hoping to train my wife/kids how to at least book our first G+ selection so we can split up who has to get up early throughout our trip. Sucks that we even need to do that. It's one of the biggest things I miss about FP+.
