Will NOT use FL Tours...other suggestions?

We were hooked on the FL Tours service until our 2008 Cruise. Until that point we never had any issues and probably used them at least 4 times. We booked a limo as a special treat for my kids to get to Port Canaveral. The driver had no idea how to get the DVD player to work, he was texting while driving and drifting lanes. Had to tell him to stop twice. I should have refused to pay given the danger he put my family in that morning, but I just didn't want to have it set the tone for the start of our cruise. Upon our return though, I contacted FL Tours and never received any response from them. I noticed that they were off of these boards as sponsor shortly therafter so I can only assume that their service had gone down hill and Pete the site owner didn't want to be associated with that. I do not frequent these boards often but have been a member for many years. Would like to look into other options for transportation to the port for an upcoming trip in February. Would appreciate any suggestions for other companies that you may have used. We like to get to the port early so will not consider using the DCL transfer.

Don't know what the problem was then, but I see that they do indeed sponsor this board.

FL Tours has been back as a DISboards sponsor since then. I would not hesitate to use FL Tours.

It's a shame that the events of 2008 have besmirched a company that worked so hard before and since then to earn a good reputation and whose sponsorship supports the Transportation forum here.

Thanks for the link to this post. If they have really gotten their act together, I may consider using them again but I need to do some searches for positive reviews.

We've always had good experiences with Happy Limo. Used them 5x (also to Universal) and will use them again in Nov.

FL Tours did, indeed, have some huge issues. I used them at one time for a Thanksgiving Day arrival. I had been promised, mulitiple times, a stop at some kind of grocery store. We were due to arrive well before noon. But, when we got to MCO, first we couldn't locate our driver. Took 15 mins to find him after we had collected our luggage! He was outside having a smoke rather than inside helping with our luggage. Strike one. Then, he told us there wouldn't be a stop since it was Thanksgiving and no stores were open. I told him I had specifically asked about it and been told that it was fine. Nope, nothing open ma'm. Strike two. When we were due to leave, again, had to go down to the BW bus stop area to find the driver. He was parked waaaay down there rather than at the front door...once again, having a smoke. Strike three.
I did email the company upon returning home. They didn't much care it would seem.
As a Transportation board moderator, I was really disappointed in the service of a board sponsor.
But....a few years ago, I decided to give them another try. I booked them, they immediatly emailed me a confirmation. My plans changed so I had to cancel the towncar. They called me to make sure everything was all right and if there had been an 'issue'. I told the gentleman that no, it wasn't them that had done anything, just a change in plans and we weren't heading to WDW at that time.

FL Tours had a really rocky period. There had been a change in ownership. And that owner did nothing to make anyone want to use the service. But....that changed. I believe it may have been the old owner that came back (could be wrong about that). He made changes, and started providing good customer service again. I haven't heard of anyone, lately, having a negative experience with FL Tours.

With that being said, I have also used Tiffany Towncar with very good results.

Pick one... and you could have exactly the same service! Sorry, but I have a friend who used another "highly regarded" company (already plugged in this thread) and got the driver who drove 100 MPH and cursed like a sailor in front of her kids.

I used Tiffany years ago. Really unimpressed overall.... rude driver who was mad that my plane was late (like I had any control LOL!) After that I just gave up. I rent a car. Much less stressful then "hoping" they will show up and be professional

The real shame is that the "car services" in Orlando seem very unprofessional. I have used them in other cities. They cost more then Orlando, but you do have a professional experience. I think that in Orlando there must be very little "barrier" to entry resulting in "I have a big car I can be a car service" and the "resulting" lack of professionalism. And the 'price pressure' by having so many may also be an issue in keeping some of the big agencies that I use in other cities out of there.

I haven't used a towncar/limo service at Orlando International in many years. Between Disney's Magical Express for onsite stays and rental cars for offsite stays, I just haven't had the need.

However, I were to need a towncar/limo service, the first provider I would consider is FL Tours because I appreciate that they sponsor this forum. Yes, the guy who owned and ran FL Tours back in 2008 generated complaints and "horror stories." But he was out before the end of 2008, and the previous owner returned. It's now 2011.

I've been a regular here on the Transportation forum for many years. I have to admit that I don't read all the threads dealing with towncars and limos, but I don't recall seeing any horror stories about FL Tours that took place after the previous owner returned.

Please try to remember that there are companies that have been banned from discussion on these boards...even by inuendo. They violated board posting guidelines....so have been banned by the board owners. Their decision, not mine. I just try to carryout their wishes.

Last July, I was traveling alone with my 2yr old and booked a last minute towncar with Sun Star transportation. We had an excellent driver, who provided a free, clean car seat for my DD, assisted with my luggage and was a complete gentleman. I am actually thinking of skipping ME on our next trip and booking with them again.
