We have planned to go to Florida on 26th December 2006 due to the flight prices this year being a lot less on the 26th than the 23rd and 24th when we were checking them out.
It turns out that the cheapest class of seats were probably gone when we first looked at this year (you can't check flights for next year just yet, got to wait until 350 days before your date of return) so there is a chance that the price won't be certain to be any different pre christmas than just after.
We are renting a villa privately and the owners availability calendar only shows our booking for the 26th onwards with no other bookings in December 2006 so we could in theory change that part of booking at no cost.
However, if we decide to continue as was and travel on 26th December 2006, what is the situation likely to be with Car Hire (booked in advance obviously)?
IE is there likely to be a very poor selection of cars available when we arrive at Alamo due to high rental volumes in the days leading up to christmas meaning we would be better travelling a couple of days earlier?
Or, as most people will already have travelled will it just mean the Alamo deport will be quiet with no line to stand in?
