Will I regret requesting BW view at BWV?

I have a friend making a ressie for me tomorrow at exactly the 11 month mark as I was going to have her request a BW view studio. It's just my DH & I so I thought it might be nice to sit out on the balcony & watch the goings-on of the BW. We're not too concerned about noise as we wear earplugs to sleep and have a sound machine, too. Is it worth the extra points? Will I regret this decision? I've had pool view the 3X I've been there, the last time my view being of a tree so I'm ready for a change. Please help convince me we should try BW view at least once!

Go ahead! Hey way I figure it, even if you don't like it, it's only a week or so out of your whole life! Personally, I think there are very few "bad" rooms with the BW view. And even those are really just "less desireable" that the others. We have been on the 5th floor way down at the end and on the second floor just a little past the last store entrance. Both were great.

I would ask for high floor, away from elevators with my future trips, but that is just my preference!

Have fun! :goodvibes

lower floors are very loud when the night clubs close at 2 in the morning

Not always. We were on the third floor way at the end (I think we had about the furthest room from the elevators) and we never heard any noise. What DS used to love was that he could see all the lights in Epcot go out around 11, then come back on after midnite (times approximate). The BW view at BWV was by far the one I was most impressed by in over 20 hotel stays. That view will really stay in my memory-incredible!

Love, Love, Love the boardwalk view. Have your friend request a top floor. They always say they cannot guarantee anything but we always have gotten a top floor. We never hear outside noise unless we keep the windows or balcony door open. You will never want another view!! If you are in a good spot you will also be able to see the fireworks! :earboy2:

Any hotel room can be noisy. Ever have a group of loud, laughing people walk past out in the hallway? Ever since we had our first child we have been bringing a sound conditioner machine with us on vacation. They work great! My kids sleep with them at home. :)

If you will enjoy what IMHO is one of the best views at WDW, then you will love it. Click on the following links to see what it looks like in the Day Time and at Night

Have fun.

IMHO there is nothing in all of the time share world better than the DVC BWV BW View experience hands down. :cool1:

I agree with you regarding the DVC timeshare world but not in all of the timeshare world. We like the BW view at BWV a lot it is our favorite. But there are timeshares in the Virgin Islands and Hawaii that have some pretty incredible views.

We are also BW view fans. We have never been bothered by noise. If you are morning people, be sure to watch the BW come alive in the morning. Maybe treat yourself to a sinful sweet or breakfast burrito from Boardwalk Bakery, then drink your coffee and have breakfast while watching joggers (who are just too saintly for my vacation mood) and the Friendship boats coming to pick up folks for Epcot and MGM. Those who spend most of their time doing commando parking probably would not benefit from the extra points required for a BW view, but we love it. ENJOY!
P.S. Look to the left for a view of high Wishes fireworks, as well as Illuminations to the right.

We've stayed in Boardwalk view rooms twice and never had any problem with the noise as long as the doors were closed. Probably the loudest thing we heard were the horns on the boats in Cresent Lake in the morning. If you can get it got for it, it's worth it.

We found it to be noisy, but not unreasonably so. Mostly we just weren't wowed. But I think its a matter of expectations, after hearing about it being such a wonderful view, we found the view sort of "eh."

Its a nicer view than many, and it has the advantage of being very low risk - i.e. all views are at least good, some excellent. Whereas all preferred views are not good.

My wife and I have stayed all over the BWVs. The middle of May we stayed on the second floor above the Screen Door Store. It wasn't the crowd coming and going at 1 or 2 am. It was the help at 5am that was very noisy. They use electric carts to pull around there trailors to restock the store and move other items to and  from the rear of it. Woke me up every morning. If I was going to do it again I would have requested the 4th or 5th floor. It is a great view though and it's neet to be able to look down when the acts are going on the Boardwalk...Good luck... :Pinkbounc

Both times I've been there we had a "standard" view and loved it. We were on the 3rd floor facing the front drive and the bus stop. What we liked about it was a perfect view of Illuminations every single night. My wife even played the Illuminations CD in our room so we could really live it. It was great!

I do want to try the BW View sometime because I know we'd love it. I just always try to stretch the points as far as I can.

Disagree. If I could only go one place in the WORLD it would be BWV BW View, that includes the Virgin Islands, Hawaii, the Mountains, you name it.

By the way, BW view is not a request, it is guaranteed at the time of reservation. You will overlook the boardwalk if they say you will. It is a wonderful view, and worth every point you pay for it. I always stay BW view, and I have never thought it was noisy at all, except for New Year's Eve. That wasn't pleasant--adults behaving badly is not a particularly good view, IMHO.

I have had the Boardwalk view twice and have enjoyed it both times. I did not find the noise that disturbing, however I sleep like a rock at WDW. YMMV

You might get the urge to rush back to the room everynight so you can watch Illuminations. Such a pain. :)

This is EXACTLY why were weren't wow'd by the view. I'm glad you think the view is great, but its this sort of insistance that things are the "best" that leads to "expectation inflation." And it lead to us walking out onto a balcony thinking "this will be incredible" to immediately saying "what was all the fuss about." Which was disappointing. Had we walked into the room with a more factual, (and we did have facts, I looked at photos) more tempered critique, we'd have been quite pleased.

There are things I enjoy about Disney and the combination of experiences it gives can't be beat, but I've slept in better hotel rooms, gotten better service, eaten better food, played better golf courses and had better views. Not that Disney isn't good. I've had consistantly good rooms, service, food, golf and views. (And it does have the nicest theme parks I've ever been to).

For the Boardwalk view, it was very nice, very predictible (which I think is one of its biggest advantages). I'd like it better if Disney would take the big lighted EPCOT off Spaceship Earth - because I think that is ugly. Fireworks will depend on where you are, our fireworks view (2nd floor over the screen door) was mostly blocked by ESPN, so we only saw high ones. We found that we could hear the noise outside (particularly the games and the boat bell, but also people noise) while our doors were shut, but it was at the background noise level and only fireworks were really disturbing (I'd think you'd be able to hear fireworks all over) - and only disappointing in that I'd heard that "once you shut the doors you don't hear anything." I've had nicer views in my opinion in Germany and Colorado (of mountains, coming from a plains state, mountains amaze me), in Phuket, Thailand (stunning oceans and islands in a room on stilts over the ocean), in San Francisco (Palace of Fine Arts to the Golden Gate Bridge from a beautiful penthouse room up the hill), and at WDW (of the castle, I'd rather be able to walk to Epcot, but I rather look out the window at the castle).

We requested a top floor 7 months out when we reserved for our May trip and we got a 2nd floor studio right above Big River. View was nice while you were standing up, but if you sat down on the patio furniture you never new you had a BW view because of the solid wall blocking your view.

It was a great view and it was neat to be that close to the BW, but as with any other room request, nothing is guaranteed, so don't think just by requesting "top floor" you'll get it automatically.
