Will I regret going in June?

My family loves our annual Disney trip, but we have always gone during low crowd times (September, early December, February). DH and I have a rare opportunity to travel without our 4 kids on June 20-25 and are considering an adults only WDW trip. Does anyone have any experience on this? Have we been so spoiled with walking onto rides and half empty busses that we will be miserable in June? I feel like without the kids we would be better able to go with the flow of a busier season, but not ever having been that time of year makes me worry we don't know what we are getting into. Any input is appreciated :)

Oor favorite time to go is the week of July 4th, so a little bit more crowded than the week in June you're going. We never wait more than 20 minutes in a line. We plan FP's carefully, leverage the ability to get more when we can, and use wait time apps to help decide where to go next. We also make use of the hot afternoons when many people leave the parks for a break. It does mean that there are a few attractions we only do once a trip (like Soarin') but for us it's not a big deal. The only downside is finding a dry spot to stay in when it rains.

We have been in June and are going back this year in June. With fast passes, we never had to wait in line for anything longer than 20 min. A pain to schedule out our entire vacation but worth it once we are there :) It's hot and humid but as you are aware, a lot of the attractions and lines are indoors.

I can tell you that the only times I have been able to go are the 2nd week of July (I'm a teacher). I will be going 2nd week of June this year. While it is crowded and it is super hot, it is also totally manageable. We have had amazing times! Be sure to take advantage of rope drop. It always seems that the crowds hit about 10am and stay until 12 or 1. It really drops mid-afternoon, but it is also really hot then. We take the cooling towels and a small fan and it helps a ton. I also like that there is usually a late afternoon shower around 4 that scares off more people. I love evenings in the summer. People who stuck it out leave at dinner and often people who plan to come back to the park either don't or just focus on parades and shows. While I'm sure it is much more crowded than you are used to, I don't feel it is nearly as bad as people often make it out to be. Have fun!

This will be our first time going the last week in June. I have made our plans carefully but now with all the changes Disney is making I'm not sure if our plans will work. With the new paid event Early Morning Magic Fantasyland I don't know what to do. We had our MK days planned for the same days. Hoping we can get it another plan together.

I love June in WDW. Bring a poncho. i like to wear keens so they dry quickly after the brief periods of rain...

We are going for the first time in late June. We are normally winter goers. So I'm nervous myself! However, like you it will just be DH and I for a few day anniversary trip...so we're just planning to go with the flow. I haven't booked or planned a thing yet, but i will once ROL opens up and hopefully we'll be able to do soarin. Anyway, I'm interested in others responses as well. Hoping we're not gonna waste an Ann. trip with crazy crowds and horrible heat.

Here's my opinion. It might be more crowded but I thinK Disnlney adds staff. We prefer less busy times when we go as a couple but also consider doing a water park or bowling? Lots of fun!

It will be hot, but if you can do rope drops and evening touring with a lot of time in the pool in the middle of the day, it can be a great trip!

We went end of June (same time frame as you, stayed longer), and it was great. It's crowded, no doubt about it. Very crowded, and by 11 the bottleneck areas of AK and MK can be annoyingly crowded. But we still had a great time. Rope drop, do an afternoon break, then go back for the evening. We loved the evenings in the park.

We go in August. If you plan your FP's right, use RD, and take mid afternoon breaks....it is totally do-able. We love early mornings, then back to the resort around lunch. Rest/swim, shower, head back to the park for evening. Evenings in Florida summer...fantastic.

We've done a couple of adult trips in June and had a great time. It is hot but unlike later in the season the temps do dip slightly at night making things pretty comfortable. We always plan to hit the parks at rope drop, take an afternoon break (relaxing lunch, nap, pool ...) then generally go back for the evenings. The nice thing about an adults only trip is the fact that you can move at your own pace, do what you want when you want and indulge in some lovely adult refreshments! :p

My family as always gone in June or July up until last year, so I almost feel a little off when I go and it's NOT summer. Like others have said, it will be hot and more crowded than you're use to, but you'll still have a fantastic time. I would suggest the following:

1. Take advantage of rope drop and morning EMH (we've never done evening so I can't speak on them, but I'm sure they would be useful as well in dodging some of the crowds). In the off season this isn't as important, but it's our main game plan in the summer.

2. Schedule your FP+ selections for late morning/early afternoon, when the crowds are starting to grow but after you've done some things via rope drop. Or sometimes we just schedule them all for whichever park we're going to in the evening.

3. Take a mid-afternoon break. We usually leave whichever morning park we're at by 1 or 2 at the latest and hang out at the hotel, go to the pool, take a nap, etc. Again, in the off season this isn't as important, but you'll definitely want a break from the people and the sun. We then usually go to whatever park we're having dinner at around 5 or 6.

6. Frogg Toggs chilly pads are a fantastic way to give yourself some relief from the sunshine. It's really not as bad as you may think, though. Yes, it will be hot, but Disney does such a good job in terms of providing shade, and most of the ques have air conditioning.

I think the most important difference between going in the summer versus going in the off season is the need to stick to a plan. When we went in February we were much more able to sort of go with the flow, re-arrange FP's, etc. You'll need to be more committed to what you've planned ahead of time in June, at least for the most part. You'll have a great time though!

We switched to June last year after nine straight late April/early May trips. While the difference in crowds was certainly noticeable, it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting. If you know how to navigate them, it's not a big deal at all.

We went in June, 11 years ago on our honeymoon, so admittedly a while ago. The worst part was the Brazillian tour groups that frequent around that time.

We normally go over the winter months but went this past June for a week. We had a good trip but decided we are going to stick with the winter months. Both of us have lived in Florida so we know what summer is like down there but we were pretty worn out by the end of the trip because of the heat. The crowds weren't really that bad but we went in early June when some of the schools were not yet out for summer.

I am not sure if disappointed is really the word I'd use but it was less positive than our previous winter trips. I think the key is knowing what you are going into and understanding that you will have a different experience than when you go at slower times.

... we have always gone during low crowd times (September, early December, February). ... Have we been so spoiled with walking onto rides and half empty busses that we will be miserable in June? ...

Disney is much easier without kids along (sorry DS!), but last week of June will be very different crowd-wise. (I never notice difference in heat/humidity between June and August, or even April sometimes and August, but YMMV.) I think it just depends on your expectations: will you be able to do as many attractions, or have the same wait times, or move as easily (walking in the parks, getting on the first bus that comes)? Probably not, but without the kids you will probably have different priorities and it will feel as (or even more!) relaxed. For example, Epcot might even feel easier: you might linger at the interesting country displays, reading the info plaques at the China indoor (AC!) statues display (its very interesting - see the movie too - but so much easier without the kids). And, you and DH probably agree on the same food for lunch/snack, so you aren't stopping at both a cotton candy store and a popcorn kiosk - eliminating one line to wait in. HTH!

I think a no-kids trip is usually more manageable no matter what the crowd size (source: adults-only trip with our DHS day scheduled on Labor Day/last day of Frozen Summer Fun AAAAAGH) but June is definitely doable! As other posters have said, prepare for rain, take breaks in the heat, and you'll do great!

We went 2nd week of June in 2012. Was 91 on the hottest day, peaked at 83 a couple days. I honestly think it was hotter back home LOL. Never once broke a sweat.

Obviously, we got lucky. But, it does happen :)
