Will I have any luck thru RCI?

I was hoping for and educated guess as to our chances of getting a WDW resort through RCI for Oct 12-20 and I know that so many here have all the answers.

My DD can trade through RCI for a week and is doing the legwork for us. Us being myself, DH and 2 grandkids. In 2009 we were able to each get a week (SS ank OKW)

She has called here and there since Oct. and nothing came up and we both watched the RCI site multiple times a day with nothing opening up for Oct. 2012.

She then asked and paid for an ongoing search for any 1bdrm on or near that week.

So now I wait for a call, and I'm not very good at that when I would rather be planning our trip!

Any idea if this is going to be difficult to get?

If you are asking for a 1BR, have listed all of the resorts, and have a couple different weeks you are searching for, I think your chances are good---assuming you have the requisite trade power. Trade power requirements for DVC have gone up several times since 2009, and you may need to combine two (or more) deposits to reach the new levels. No one knows for sure what October will require just yet, but as a data point May and early June 1BRs are 43, while late June through early August are 48.

Thank you for responding. The way that I believe my DD has to do the trade- she has a certain amount of points deposited to RCI (Can purchase additional if needed) and yes, it is a higher price than 2009.;) for example right now is showing she will have to use 3500 of her points, but the trade is for a full week of RCI.
She owns Shell Vacations and found out that they will no longer trade with RCI at the end of 2011, So when she couldn't get anything by December, she contacted them and was told that as long as she had her points deposited along with some other fees, she could hold that in an ongoing search that would allow us to still get Disney.
I am not super knowledgable about all this, but hope it works as they told her it would. I would hate to stay offsite. My one stay at a DVC resort has spoiled and ruined me.

If you have all resorts listed for 7 nights, I'd say your chances are very good but would have been even better if the ongoing search had been started from the onset.

I'm with Dean. I think your chances are pretty good. And, for what it's worth, what your sister was told sounds accurate to me. That said, I still do some onsite and some off, and the offsite stays have their advantages.
