I'm an interior designer and agree that I love the elegance of the Disney ships. I love the art nouveau/Art Deco style. Our first few sailings were on the d/f and when we sailed the Magic I was afraid I would be disappointed, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was great to see how they designed some different areas like the piano lounge and the after hours area, as well as various other places around the ship. The areas I didn't feel were as elegant were the public restrooms (which were still nice and immaculately cleaned. But the d/f have some gorgeous public restrooms!) and the rainforest room. We still had great shows, great service, and an overall fun cheery atmosphere. I can now contrast it with our first non
dcl cruise this past summer on rcl adventure of the seas which is newer than the Magic by 3 years and has an overall feel like it was designed in the 90's as a mall(even though it embarked 2001), and the interactions with the staff was nothing like on dcl. In the public spaces we constantly felt as if we were being accosted by someone trying to sell us something. I think you'll find overall you will still love it. Just be prepared to let go of some of the things you may love about the d/f and enjoy the differences and variety of sailing a different ship with the same overall classic elegant feel that Dcl does so well.
