Will I be disappointed on the Magic?

I sailed Dream twice before I sailed on Magic. The only thing I missed was Aquaduck. Not gonna do Aquadunk!

This is my opinion as well. We've been on the Magic, Fantasy, and Dream twice, and the only thing I truly missed when I was on the Magic was the AquaDuck. I did go on the AquaDunk, but I much prefer the AquaDuck because I like being able to go on the slides with my kids. I loved everything else about the Magic, and my favorite servers among all of our cruises were on the Magic.

What has changed on the Magic since her last dry dock? I know the AquaDunk was added but what else? She's our very favorite Disney ship. We were last aboard her in 2013.

Thanks to everyone for your replies. What we love most about the new ships is the pools, shows, service you get everywhere on the ship, and the elegant feel you get walking around. We've only ever sailed with Disney so I have nothing to compare it to. I guess we'll have to go one with an open mind and maybe temper our expectations a bit.
I'm an interior designer and agree that I love the elegance of the Disney ships. I love the art nouveau/Art Deco style. Our first few sailings were on the d/f and when we sailed the Magic I was afraid I would be disappointed, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was great to see how they designed some different areas like the piano lounge and the after hours area, as well as various other places around the ship. The areas I didn't feel were as elegant were the public restrooms (which were still nice and immaculately cleaned. But the d/f have some gorgeous public restrooms!) and the rainforest room. We still had great shows, great service, and an overall fun cheery atmosphere. I can now contrast it with our first non dcl cruise this past summer on rcl adventure of the seas which is newer than the Magic by 3 years and has an overall feel like it was designed in the 90's as a mall(even though it embarked 2001), and the interactions with the staff was nothing like on dcl. In the public spaces we constantly felt as if we were being accosted by someone trying to sell us something. I think you'll find overall you will still love it. Just be prepared to let go of some of the things you may love about the d/f and enjoy the differences and variety of sailing a different ship with the same overall classic elegant feel that Dcl does so well.

Tangled is my very favorite DCL production! When they added the animation to AP on the Magic, it became my favorite ship!

Interesting about rcl, we have done the dream and fantasy and are looking to book the Magic in 2019. Another line has briefly popped in my mind. What did you think about disney pricing vs rcl? Not just $, but over all.

We went on the southern Caribbean cruise without our kids and the price was good for a junior suite aft, which I am thankful we had because we didn't enjoy the ship and spent a lot of time on our huge balcony. On a Disney ship we would have been happy in a regular balcony room which would have made the price more comparable. Our reason for using rcl is that for the dates and itinerary we needed it worked. We were trying to do a cruise that included Barbados since that was where we spent our honeymoon and this was for our 25th anniversary. We have no plans to book with them again unless it is a very specific situation like before. We typically try to cruise during lower demand times to keep our prices low. Overall we did not feel it is worth the savings. It felt like a generic vacation in a lower quality environment vs one with the added "magic" of Disney.

Thanks for the reply, it confirms my feelings for paying more for Disney, sometimes I wonder, "am I crazy to pay so much for Disney". As the saying goes, you get what you pay for, and the Disney "magic" and environment is totally worth it.

I just wish they would hurry up and post the 2019 spring dates already !!!

Let me start off by saying I'm biased (I've only sailed on the Magic and Wonder and will be experiencing the Fantasy for the first time on 09/09), but I can safely tell you that I'm EXTREMELY disappointed that we were not able to sail our itinerary on the Magic instead.

Every experience I've had on the Magic was fantastic. Being one of the original ships, and one that is smaller and more quaint than its newer counterparts, it already has a charm about it that makes the experience unique. Personally, the main reason I prefer the Magic to any of the other ships is because during the renovations and updates, it kept the incredible original design of Animator's Palette (which I ADORE). I can't bring myself to like a single thing about the new design on the Fantast and Dream as it feels stuffy and congested. The theming of the original is superb. There's something downright magical about dining in black and white, and everything changing to full color throughout your meal (and the CM's changing their costumes right along with it). Cariocas is also a beautiful design that, while I haven't gotten the chance to dine there as of yet, I am looking very forward to the experience.

Dining is one of the focal points of a Disney Cruise, and on the Magic, you will certainly be experiencing the best. :-)

Hey!!!! Sarah is my niece and we LOVE Omar!!:love2: We are heading into the Magic right now. So glad everybody loves them like we love them!!

Your niece is a lovely young lady and we are so glad to have met her. We also like Omar a lot, just don't get between him and food.
