Will I be able to handle Rock N Roller Coaster???

We are leaving for Disney in less than two days and all of a sudden my two daughters, 8 & 10 want to go on Rock N Roller Coaster!!! Exactly how bad is this ride? How many times does it go upside down? I'm not real big on coasters and my daughters have never been on a real roller coaster. All Feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

I didn't go on RnRC until just this last few trips.
Just imagine a faster (smoother) Space Mountain.
You go upside down a few times, but really is over with before you know it.
I found the back to be rougher and seem faster.
I like the front seat best. You see more, it's smoother, and in a few places (over bumps) almost seems to hesitate slightly.
Ask for the front seat. You may have to wait 1 or 2 cars from then, but it's worth it.
I will ride the other cars, but I like the first seats best.
And I know this sounds dumb -- but the more you relax while riding, the more enjoyable it is. Then your body isn't so tense, and goes with the movements better.
Keep in mind, Disney isn't going to create a ride that purposely hurts people.

We loved RRC. My DDs are a little older-12 and 15, I think we rode it seven times over the course of a week. The loops are not bad and it's not really high like some of the outdoor coasters. The biggest thing is the speed at the beginning. I think it goes from 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds. Just keep your head back against the headrest and you'll be fine. It's lots of fun. I would never get on some of the big new coasters at Great America but I really liked RRC. Try it! (And don't miss TOT!)

If they do not like things that are fast, then watching the beginning of the ride may scare them. There is a way of line at this point, so they will not be forced to ride if they do not want to.

Personally, I find this a nice smooth ride that just starts out quickly with the 0-60 but really not overly scary. By the time you realize that you are upside-down, you will be right-side up again. Of course this never bothered me, but I have been riding every rollarcoaster I have seen since I was tall enough to go. As for a fear factor, I would say that it looks worse than it really is. Even my most timid friend who dislikes fast rollarcoasters loved this ride!

Another take....

I used to be big on coasters. Something changed in the last couple years though (I'm now forty, must be age!), but I no longer care for coasters. Space Mountain, which I used to laugh at, now seems bumpy to me.

That said, I can't say you'll have an enjoyable experience on R&RC, but it won't ruin your day. It's fast, it's got lots of twists and turns, but as Luv2Roam writes, it's smoother than your average coaster and the best way to face it is as relaxed as posible (in my case, with eyes closed, but you miss the theming that way).

I would make two suggestions, from direct experience. First, the "worst part," or best part if you're young either in chronology or spirit, is the "blast off." You'll hear Steven Tyler making the countdown. When he says blast off, you do. THIS ABOVE ALL ELSE IS THE TIME TO BE RELAXED. After that, it's really cake.

Second. Do NOT visit the turkey leg stand immediately before riding. Trust me.

All in all, I don't go on this when I'm alone or with my wife, but if we meet up with my niece and nephew, I ride it without any ill affects. Go for it!

I went on RnRC for the first time during our last visit in January and I have to tell you this is BY FAR now my favorite ride of all time. I was a BIG space Mountain fan till I rode this. Hope you have a great time whether you decide to ride it or not.

It's a GREAT ride !! Like others have said, relax and enjoy it. The portion of the ride that you're inverted is over with so quickly that you'll be right side up again before you know it. Another thing to remember is that at no point do you feel like you're going to fall out of the ride. Try to keep your eyes open, the scenery is really neat. And make SURE to keep your head against the headrest, that launch is unforgettable.

Its a must do. Very smooth, no bumps your body does not get jarred in any way. I timed it last time -its over in around a minute (if I remember correctly) I don't remember the exact time but its short - and FUN. Its an indoor coaster so you have no sense of height - lots of optical illusions, like you feel your head will slam into a sign or something and you find yourself trying to duck - LOL. You will love it!

GREAT RIDE! i rode it over spring break, and all i can say is keep your eyes open, keep your body relaxed, get a seat in the front, and use fastpass! thoses lines are too long not to use it. we got one for 12:30 around 10, so its not that bad. have fun!

The launch on RNRC is unbelievable. It literally knocks the breath out of your lungs - you really need to ride it to understand it. Go for it - it's fun!

I am a big ride wimp, but the RnRC is a fantastic ride! Unless you have major health problems or can't climb in & out of the cars - try it! It's thrilling & smooth but too short. At least get in line to see the pre-show & to watch a launch, if you change your mind, there is a "chicken exit" just before the car loading area that leads to the gift shop. Lots of people use it, you don't have to be embarassed. The "launch" is amazing, most rollercoasters drag you slowly up a hill & drop you over the hill to get speed. The RnRC uses catapult technology like an aircraft carrier. You are sitting still & when you get the green light, you are literally shot forward to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds. If you can survive that, you have it made. The rest is easy. It's more the anticipation then anything else that's scary. Enjoy, there's nothing else like it!

Ummmm I do have what could be called a "major health problem" -heart disease and angina- but I ride it anyway. I just premedicate with a blast of nitro or a sublingual tab to be more discreet. Don't want any CM's asking those hard questions.

After the ride, I've had some serious angina, but nothin' that another nitro blast won't fix. I'm not reckless, though at first glance it may seem so, I know my limits and won't do anything that is seriously risky.

KarenMick, my whole point in all this is that you will be just fine. The ride is a hoot and not really all that physically challenging. You will be fine! But jody isn't kidding about keeping your head firmly pressed against the head rest during that first acceleration. You are gonna love it!

RnR is our favorite ride on property. Its our first and last ride of the trip. It is very smooth. There are no large or sudden drops. It has 1 loop and 2 cork screws. the actual ride is between 85 and 90 seconds not counting waiting for the launch. You feel very safe in this ride. It has an over the shoulder padded restraint system. If you have any doubts go in the exit to the gift shop and watch people coming off the ride, everyone has an ear to ear smile.

Try it, you will love it. And don't even think you will get away with just ridding it once.

OK, as a corollary to this topic, how do I convince my GF to try this ride? She's never been on a roller coaster before, actually, and this trip will be her 1st theme park experience. She's convinced that she doesn't want to go on anything that goes upside down.

Maybe you should start her slowly. Try Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at the MK, then Test Track at Epcot, then back to MK for Space Mountain. If she does those rides without a hitch, sounds like RnRC should be no problem! Good Luck!

On our first trip after RnRC opened we just happened to spend a day at Disney Quest before our MGM day. We rode Cyber Space Mountain a few times (you design your own simulated coaster) and got a little braver each time. On about the third time we added an upside down loop. It was great and made me much less apprehensive about the first ride on RnRC! As many have said the ride is so smooth, you are securely harnessed in your limo and the ride is short in duration. Give it a try!

The Cyber Space Mountain was an excellent suggestion. You design your own roller coaster, you can add all the loops you want - then you get to "ride" your design. It's really cool. That's a great way to "break in" someone to the whole roller coaster thing.

And like others have said, those loops are so smooth and so fast, there's really no time to get worried about them. They're over before you realize you're in one.
