Will I be able to handle Rock N Roller Coaster???

It depends on WHY you don't usually like coasters.

If it's because you don't like going fast, or making unexpected turns, or being pushed against your seat, you won't like RnR either.

If it's because you don't like heights or don't like big drops, then you might love RnR, because it doesn't have those. That's my situation; I hate traditional coasters, but loved RnR! It took me two trys to ride it though -- chickened out the first time!

I am a roller coaster JUNKIE...will ride anything for a thrill (Cedar Point is my favorite thrill park). In comparison, RnRC is one of the smoothest and visually stunning coasters I've ever experienced...it is more about the marriage of visual, audio, and physical sensations than it is about any G-forces or scares.

This is one coaster NOT to experience with your eyes shut because you'll miss half of the Disney magic!

I would try to get her "warmed" up by taking her on a less extreme roller coster first. Try some of the little ones in Mickey's Toon Town Fair in MK (I think one is called Goofy's Barn Stormer?). Or try Thunder Mountain RR in MK, it's a little intense but dosen't go upside down. If she handle's those okay, then she can graduate to RRC. Good luck!

I say, put her on it first. Honestly, BTMR is a typical wooden which is rather bumpy, so if that is the first ride, she could assume that it is like that on all rollarcoasters. I love all coasters, but the wooden ones can be a little rough at times. Those and the Flying Unicorn at Universal. If you are over 5'10", be prepared for the quick stop, otherwise you will get some lovely bruises on your shins.

Besides the beginning, RNRC is a lot nicer to you than Space Mountain or BTMR. Those are rather jerky and can possibly throw you around a little. Plus, you have the over-the-head harness on RNRC which holds you in a lot better than a lap bar. This added sense of security will be a plus for a first-timer.

I will confess to physically hiding the beginning of the ride from my friend who does not like the speed of certain coasters (I tricked her onto the fast one at the local Six Flags...let's just say she won't be doing that one again), becuase it would have scared her and she would not have ridden it. She actually thanked me in the end because if I hadn't physically turned her around in line, she would have chickened out and would not have ridden it. Plus, if you get the fastest one out of the way first, the others will seem like a cake-walk. Just another suggestion on how to go. Baptism by fire. That way if she loves it, you will know that there will be no rides to skip. If she hates it, you can always try on other rides.

Just to be a pain and disagree I do not think Rock -N- Roller Coaster is that smooth! The track is, but my head gets banged around so much on that ride. It whips against the harness!

....that's me! That's me! But I really would like to try it. I say I don't "do" upside down, but I've only been on one once, many years ago (it was a double loop, I think).

What really freaks me is the "free-fall" sensation, or the illusion of a "free-fall," whatever. Most of your posts are encouraging in that it looks like RNRC lacks that particular "thrill" factor. Am I correct?

Also, what is the height restriction? My DS (7, almost 8) is a little over 48," and I don't anticipate a growth spurt over the next 11 days!

That part really depends on how tall you are. The smaller you are, the more likely you will hit your head on the harness. I see it happening with the little kids on the ride all the time. Another reason why height requirements are necessary. I really don't have a problem, but then I am almost 6', so the harnesses fit me properly. As opossed to BTMR, this is a rather smooth ride.

Yes, that could be I am 5'1.

If I understand your meaning, yes, you're correct. There aren't any big hills that give you the usual "air time". RNRC is mainly a loop and a couple corkscrews. The launch is actually the big draw on this coaster. The initial launch takes you right into the first loop - you almost don't have time to absorb what happens, it goes that fast.

Absolutely NO free-fall on the RnRC, I tried TOT once & thought I would have a heart attack because of the feeling of falling which I hate so much! The RnRC is my favorite, lots of speed, no falls. Even with the loops, you never really feel like you are that high up. Thank heaven for darkness!

Well everyone I did go on RNRC!!!!! We went to MGM on Saturday which was an Early Entry day. Went on TOT first, I thought that was scary. Then we went right over to RNRC. Only stood in line about 5 minutes. It was fast-maybe a little too fast for me. I'm glad I tried it, but I don't think I'll ever go on it again. Thanks for all your advice though!!!

My family talked myself and my oldest son into riding and the take off ruined it for me. I was so stunned and for a second could not catch my breath that it scared the living daylights out of me. I rode the rest of it with my eyes shut, praying the rest of the way. I kept muttering to myself, let this be over soon, good thing it was! After the ride was over my face must have told the story, my son and I looked at each other and said never again! The rest of the family just laughed at us (even the 8 year old). I know so many people really like this ride so I'm in the minority, I guess I am just a whimp! I say throw caution to the wind (you only live once) and ride it, maybe unlike me you will love it. Now my family will say come on you only live once, try Tower of Terror and I say to them, not in this life time!

Last January, our 6 year old was barely tall enough, but she was absolutely determined. She did it and loved it. My husband is NOT roller coaster fan at all(hates any type of "free fall" feeling)--and he loves it too.

Keep your head back at the beginning and enjoy. It is such a thrill!!! We LOVE RnR!!!!

My mom is 55 and not a big roller coaster fan. She rode it with me last year and loved it. She didn't even realize we were going upside down because it was all int he dark and she couldn't see what was coming! Give it a try.
