Will I be able to find this pin at WDW?

Hi all. I am going to WDW next week, and want to get a Mole souvenir for a friend (it's a nickname of his and he collects mole things.) I thought this pin would be cool:

Could I find it for sale at the parks, or should I buy it on ebay? I don't collect or trade pins, but I think this is from 2007. Do they have a stash, or are only current pins for sale?

If you're only a week out, why not just wait until you get there. If you can't find it, then hit up ebay.

Yeah, I should just do that. I was hoping to know if they even sold old pins, because if it were here when I got home, I could send it to him right away. I'd have to get something from WDW too, but that just seems so fitting. Thanks . :-)

I don't think they have a place for old pins. The Character Outlet shop used to see discontinued pins, but nothing ever worthwhile. Especially since the ride is gone, I have a feeling that ebay is going to be your best bet.

Thanks. I bought one and it will be here when I get back to sneak in with my other souvenirs. :D Not quite a park souvenir, but it fits him too well to pass up.

You won't be able to buy that pin in the parks. It was part of the Hidden Mickey collection, which can only be obtained by trading with a CM. If you do find it, it'll be on a CMs lanyard or in one of the pin books, but you'll need to take a pin with you to trade (or buy one to trade).

One BIG caveat is that Hidden Mickey pins available in the parks for trading are commonly counterfeits, fakes, or scrappers. At this point, if you do find one for trade on a CM lanyard or pin board/book, there is a very high chance that it'll be a scrapper (a pin that should have been "scrapped" at the factory) or a flat out fake/copy.

Wow. The ones on ebay might be counterfeit then, too?
Sadly, at this point, that is highly likely. Sometimes it's hard to tell the real from the fake, unless you have one of the original real ones to compare with it.

But at the end of the day, if you're giving it as a gag gift, will the person receiving it know if it's real or fake? And will they care?

For the most part, I'm inclined to say that most folks won't be able to tell if something is a counterfeit or even care. That being said, I've seen some pretty awful counterfeits/fakes out there (e.g., Belle's Yellow Dress was Green, Ariel was a blonde, etc.). I would hate to pay money to buy a pin like that...
