Will "Honey I Shrunk the Audience" return to Epcot?

I have never seen this movie while in the park, but I just viewed it online (YOUToo can find it on a popular video sharing site) and I have mixed feelings about it. My first thought was I can see where they got their inspiration for Star Tours and then I found myself thinking about SpaceBalls :rolleyes1 and then Xanadu.

I like the fact that it has MJ in it, I too was a child of the 80's and I will certainly go and see it but even watching it at home, I found myself thinking..... is it ever going to end........ I just hope that adding the 3D to it may help the entertainment value of it.

With 3D movies saturating the market, the novelty of a 15 minute attraction in a theme park is wearing thin. I would rather Disney raze the pavilion to the ground and do something entirely new. If they can't restore Figment to his former glory, that is.

The best idea by far is to start completely over. Though there are, however no if's for Figment. Figment never had any glory, here, now, or former.

Honey I shrunk the audience was really scary for young children..... DS saw it at age 3 and 4 but really did not like the snake part.

Captain EO was awesome! Especially for a child of the 1980s like me and DW... and DS5 really liked it too.

Unless one has an aversion to MJackson because of all the accusations (who knows...), it was a pretty cool film.

I like Captain Eo but only in a nostalgic way. I'll be fine if I never see HISTA again.

What is it with the Imagination pavilion? Lack of imagination should be the theme.

I've said it before: The best fit for the Imagination pavillion is to put Phineas and Ferb attractions here.

Who better to take us on a Journey into our Imagination?

They are also contemporary characters that will have mass appeal to many visitors. Not sure about their international exposure but Disney could certainly grow that aspect if they got behind the franchise more.

People would freak out if they replaced a park icon with a momentary, flavor of the week show that most people need to look up on wiki to even see what it is...

Went to Captain EO last week. While we were waiting for the show to start I got so excited. I remember LOVING it when I was a kid. Yeah si it's totally cheesy but I still liked going and seeing it again. I'm pretty sure my DS6 will love it in September but I'm not so sure about DD13. Either way I'm going to see it again just for "old times sake".

Also I heard some where that Disney can not bring Dreamfinder back because Kodak owns the rights to him. However, I got excited when I saw Dreamfinder shirts after the ride so maybe I heard wrong!

(Ok,first off,why are we talking about Figment if this is about HISTA? XD)

Ahew off topic,ANYWAY...
I really love Captain EO. When my mom, uncle, and I went to Epcot in August,we made it in just in time for the doors to open to see the show, lucky us ;).I love all the tricks in this show, and I loved Micheal Jackson dancing,EPIC.We all loved it,even my friends Brooke and Todd love this. We watch it all the time on Youtube.
I REALLY hated HISTA. The snake and the dog scared the...out of me. And when my family and I came out of the theater,we always would make fun of it for some reason.

If we're talking about Figment, then I do like the Figment ride. The old one with Dreamfinder I watch on YT really bores me for some reason o.o. But I would love to see him come back. I have a shirt with him on C:. I don't really care about the ride,I just love Figment<333333

Welcome to the DIS.... Haven't you realized by now that topics are just a suggestion on what to talk about?

The Youtube Video's don't do the original version of the pavilion any justice. The only video i've found even close to conveying what we all miss was Martin's Ultimate Tribute. http://vimeo.com/3015806

And it also wasn't just the ride that we all miss..... It was upstairs! no video or picture has EVER really caught what was upstairs and how much fun and how great it was. The downstairs imageworks was really just a very pale, and very sorry shadow of the glory that was upstairs until the complete ruin of the pavilion.

There is a reason Figment is still around. He was such a great and memorable part of the original ride that when they redid the attraction and completely removed both him and dreamfinder everybody complained so loudly Disney had no choice but to redo the attraction yet again after only a couple years to bring Figment back.

I LOVED the upstairs!!!!! I wish they brought it back I have so many memories from up there, and I hated that Figment they brought for meet and greets a couple years ago. Remember when figment sat on dreamfinders shoulder? He's not supposed to be full size...

This is how I felt about it when we saw it in November. DH had seen it before, but I never visited the whole time it was originally showing. I think it's easier to appreciate if you can put yourself in the mindset of your 1986 self. Or if you're 5.

We went on the Jungle Cruise last week and every single time we saw an "animal" the 10 year old in the seat across from us would as his mom "Is THAT animal real?" She would reply "NO, this is not like the safari ride"

LOL, this is exactly my DS5!

This would be a fabulous solution.

Just got through the video...awesome! Thanks for sharing it, I think the structure of the original ride that it explains was very interesting. (5 revolving theaters...I always wondered how we stayed in that room for so long.

I loved HISA! I know I am in the minority. I have really nostalgia over that ride. Never can forget when my DD (3 at the time) reached out to pet the kitty and it became a lion.

My daughter and husband did Captain EO this trip and hated it. I never saw it, so have no comment on it.

As for them reimagining the whole building, I just fear they will shut it down to be reimagined never to be opened again, like the Wonders of Life pavillion.

It seems like Figment was originally a tiny spark of imagination. The full size Figment is too much like Barney.

I don't see why Figment couldn't still be a part of this pavilion in some capacity. I'll reserve judgment on Phineas and Ferb since I know nothing about them.

I just hope EO stays till next October, me and my brother are huge MJ fans, so if its still thier itll be on our must do list. He doesnt know about the show yet, dont want to get him excited about it to find out its been changed / shut down.

NP. Martin has some really cool videos on a ton of different attractions. They are definitely worth watching if you can find the time.

Probably the saddest part of that video is yo start to realize how much they tore out when they redid the ride. Specifically, they knocked a hole in the wall and rerouted the train from one of the back show-rooms directly into the back half the of the old turntable track. The result is a good portion of the original ride track was torn out to make room for that sad replacement for the upstairs playground.

Isn't there also a whole lot of empty unused space where the old ride used to go but there is just nothing now? I think I remember reading that somewhere...It's just such a shame

Not quite. The space where the old ride used to go is now where the queue line, shop, and downstairs imageworks was located. This is kinda crude, but it's an image I found online that will give you a general idea of how things were changed.
