available? I can't see why they would want to shoot themselves after you have already agreed to a higher rate. Anyway, does it get any better than the Passholder rate already is?

Come on guys, someone has to have a thought about this...

:cool1:

I have reservations with the AP Best Rate program for Nov. 29 to Dec. 6. My rate at the WL is less than rack rate, but not nearly as good as AP room rates during the same period in the past. I think if enough of us used this new program, then WDW will not lower our room rates. I guess it all boils down to if the rooms are full under this plan and also people paying rack rates, we are stuck with higher rates.

If they do come out with AP room rates, I wonder if we will benefit from them. The way it is worded about "general public" discounts do they call AP discounts "general public". We may have been duped.

My understanding is that Disney is considering AP rate as a general public discount.

We booked AKL using the "Best Rate" program for 11/25 - 12/3. Remembering that value season begins 11/27 I played around with the dates. For 6 of the nights starting 11/27 I could get water view for $172 (inc tax), however, when i checked the Friday and Saturday after T-giving it was full rack rate. When I booked all of the dates together it averaged the days together for a $206 rate (Friday & Saturday alone were around $300/night!). My email confirmation simply says rate: 185 + tax per night (206).

If my rate goes down- Yippee! If it doesn't, oh well, we're still going to DisneyWorld!

If for some reason when a guest books; no AP rate is available and they book with rack rate but using the Best Rate Plan, then if and when AP rates are released Yes they will lower it. This has already happened to some that booked the first day of the new program. Their rates were lowered after the AP discounts were loaded into the system.

However, you hit on a key point in that the rate offered with an AP Best Rate is probably going to the best rate offered. Anything else will not be as great a savings and very limited in availiblity.

I booked POFQ at the Best Rate for 1 week in Dec., which was a 30% savings over rack. Sure, 30% off isn't the 40% discount that's been offered in the past. But, I did get a discount and the DDE discount makes up the difference, for my family. I don't expect to get more of a discount than I already have -- especially since the Best Rate Program is not showing any additional availability for POFQ now. There's no reason to offer more of a discount if the rooms are booked!

How has anyone found out about a rate change with the best rate program?

Also on another note... I suspect that if they push everyone to book using the best rate program, with the promise of discounts, and then not do anything, it *may* open them up to a legal liability?

Basically duping everyone who purchased an AP on the promise of discounts to then book early and then not discount does sound misleading to me.

And yes, I do have 2 best rate reservations.

I don't think anybody is being forced to book using the BR program. Many people have been told that there will still be AP rates available the "old" way. As far as I know, no new codes have been released yet though.

The only thing people have been told is that the BR program is available to those that want to book ahead of time and be assured of the Best Rate should a better rate be offered later instead of constantly having to look for promotions and codes.

Disney is under no obligation to offer better rates. People booking under BR are already getting discounts.
