Will Disney follow new CDC recommendation?

And those boat loads of people went last year, not now with this capacity. This is becoming a circular argument and we will see no common ground so I’m ending this now. I hope your next trip is magical. Mine so far is great, hope it continues that way.
All 3 of my Covid trips have been more than magical. All with very different masking rules. Not sure why my opinion is getting you so riled up, but ok.

But it seems that the recommendation is for indoors only so Disney can specify that would only include lines that are 100% inside and for outside lines then masks wouldn’t be compulsory. The amount of time would then be limited to rides, shopping, and some lines that are indoors. Obviously cramming people in without social distancing won’t help when are you are on top of each other watching fireworks. So then maybe it is silly even bothering with masks indoors
Everything helps, though. It's a reminder that things aren't status quo, and that we still need to be careful around each other.

Anyone who has a package can cancel for a full refund, including tickets. Others can let the tickets expire and then when they decide to go back can call qnd hqve the value of the tickets put towards the new tickets.

Just trying to help those looking to cancel so the lines aren't as long for me.
I didn’t realize this. I booked my resort for November a few weeks ago but no tickets because I wasn’t 100%. Can I add tickets on now as part of a package and have the cancel option? Worried now they may stop selling tickets to reduce capacity

I'd say make masks mandatory indoors unless you show a vac card - I know people have gotten them falsely, but I assume the majority did not. I know we cannot force people to show medical info, but if they are given the choice to wear a mask or show a card and not have to - they can decide for themselves. This is what we did at my Company. Those who chose not to either show a card or for whatever reason decided to not get vaccinated must wear a mask in the office. Make it part of check-in for WDW resort guests, attach it to their tickets, then slap a bracelet on people when they walk in.

Agreed. My work did this too. I think this would solve a lot of problems not just in Disney but outside of it as well.

Another reminder about our policy on COVID related posts, as outlined in the post pinned at the top of this forum.

We welcome information on COVID policies RELATED TO TRAVEL. Things like the vaccination policies issued by venues or destinations, the cleaning or distancing procedures in use, practical tips for travelers or things they might need to know that are different from location to location are all valid topics. Any official policies issued by Disney, other travel destinations, cruise lines, airlines, etc. regarding requirements for visiting parks or cruising can be shared. This information needs to be on-topic for the specific forum and thread where posted.

We will NOT welcome debate or opinion about medical, scientific, or political aspects of the pandemic. There are a few often repeated trigger items that won’t be allowed: No statistics about infection rates, no ranting about individual rights, no “face-diaper” comments, no debate about whether vaccinations or masking are effective, no discussions about which governor or politician or news personality did or said what.

In summary: COVID related discussion should be limited to actual policy and practical application, and NOT veer into opinion or debate.

We understand that you may be passionate in your opinions on this topic and want to discuss or debate them, and appreciate your understanding that there are more appropriate places than the DISboards to do that.

I never said it wasn't hot. I was saying wearing a mask didn't make me any hotter.
I have to disagree with you. We go every august because of school and we are used to the heat as much as we can be. When we went last august my wife suffered from heat stroke and I honestly blame the masks. They made us miserable.

That was my experience last week... with a mask, it was damn hot.... without a mask, it was damn hot

16 months later and we're still having the same bloody argument. 🤦‍♀️

Let's just summarize it:

Some people do not find the mask increases their perception of heat at all. That's totally valid.
Some people find the mask increases their perception of heat and it makes them feel miserable. That's also, totally valid.

Well I got vaccinated too for the same reasons & just got back from Wdw & have covid 😔. Like I posted previously, it’s mild in that I’m not hospitalized or dead, but this is still miserable. I also lost my sense of smell like many do & wonder if I’ll ever get it back b/c some ppl don’t. A lot of ppl in my area have started wearing masks again just based on our state’s recommendation (no mandate). I actually wish wdw would bring back social distancing more than masks.

I’m sorry you’re sick. But hang in there. I lost my sense of smell and taste for a month when I had it. It came back, but yes it’s really scary. It’ll get better!!

We went at the end of May when masks were still required indoors, and it bothered us not a bit. I was just so relieved we didn't have to wear them outside.

To me, it seemed like the most sensible compromise Disney could strike with regards to guest comfort and protecting the public health. For that reason, I wish they hadn't been so cavalier in dropping the indoor requirement entirely, especially when more pernicious variants (like Delta) were bound to crop up. We've still got a ways to go before reaching herd immunity. There was a lot of euphoria in May (and for good reason!), but it's made the inevitable backslide thornier to navigate.

You'd have to cancel your room only and rebook as a package.

I think you make a good point. But at the same time, with conditions as you describe them, the need for and efficacy of mask wearing only increases. I think that maybe Disney will follow the CDC and require masks indoors, but not for the outdoor portion of lines (though it might be advisable to wear them there as well, for those who can tolerate it).

This is also a valid point (albeit different and seperate then the point I was making, but definitely very valid). Those types of mask requirements would be preferred if Disney does in fact start requiring them for vaccinated guests.

But if Disney does start implementing this requirement, then I don’t think masking up indoors is an issue. And we can definitely blame the delta variant and other circumstances for creating this situation. But I think what is the heart of this entire issue, and always has been for many many reasons, even ones that aren’t covid related, was their quick propensity to increase capacity beyond the park/staff capability of handling these crowd increases. For me, the bottom line for this entire equation becoming either easier to solve or harder to solve is overcapacity. Every little thing that piles on after that just makes things more unbearable in these conditions, imo and for us at least. Obviously I’m seeing others don’t feel the same so that’s just my two cents on the logistical side of touring Disney at the moment.

Yep. This.

Unless they can somehow figure out how to reduce capacity the prevention ship has sailed. Having people packed in without distancing makes mask requirements almost useless, especially indoors.
