Will Disney follow new CDC recommendation?

Last August and this August are different beasts, just based on crowds/capacity alone.

Like I said, anyone that claims it is tolerable is not here NOW. You can’t compare experiences when the crowds were minimal vs the parks being packed wall to wall shoulder to shoulder right now. I’m here now experiecing this and the heat is borderline unbearable (as it always is this time of year) but with lines snaking through the park and insane crowds, it FEELS much much hotter. Masks in lines outside, again, in these conditions, would be unbearable imo.
But how can you speak for others?

I've got family there now, wearing masks outside even without a mandate, and they report they are just fine with the heat and the masks.

It may be difficult for some people, and that's understandable. But to say that there aren't people that claim it's tolerable with a mask aren't there now, is just plain incorrect.

Same here! We're going in October, and if the CDC still has the guidance of masks and Disney doesn't, we're cancelling. Masks don't bother me.....

What if Orange County falls into a low transmission area the week prior to you going? That's why this policy is so hard for companies like Disney to make work, moreso than the honor system. Orange could move back and forth between mask recommended by CDC or not many times over between now and your trip.

For this reason, I can honestly see Disney either reinstating a mask mandate and keeping it regardless of transmission status or they don't reinstate masks and leave it up to individuals whether they want to wear one or not. I don't see Disney going back and forth depending on what the transmission status is for that week. That would be too confusing for everyone!

Like a PP mentioned, with the way Disney has increased park capacity with absolutely zero social distancing and filling in all available spaces, I'm not sure masks are going to do much good.

My statement wasn’t incorrect by any measure. But you are right I should not be speaking for others. I’m only speaking about what I saw. You have instances of others saying it is ok and I have instances where others say it isn’t, including myself and including the many people I was in line with today that all saw the same incoming news reports on their phones. Again, all second hand info being passed along with my own experience, and opinion.

I have to disagree with you. We go every august because of school and we are used to the heat as much as we can be. When we went last august my wife suffered from heat stroke and I honestly blame the masks. They made us miserable.
100% wearing masks in the summer feels suffocating. We've gone 3 times since reopening; early Sept, early Oct., and early March. Sept and Oct. were a nightmare from a mask/heat/sweat standpoint...much worse than our maskless trips we usually take during the summer.

March was a different story...while we still found them annoying; it was nothing like when it was jot out. It was cool weather and it made all the difference.

Your statement is most definitely incorrect.

"anyone that claims it is tolerable is not here NOW".

That's what you said. There are people there now that are claiming it is tolerable. That's what makes your statement incorrect, whether or not you want to admit that you're incorrect or not. The fact remains that you are.

Have a nice trip!

Good for you. After waiting an 65 min for ToT today in the sun, after waiting 70 min for RnRC mostly in the sub, after waiting 90 minutes for Mickey and Minnie Railway mostly in the sun, and after waiting 100+ minutes for Millenium Falcon, mostly in the sun. I’m holding very firm on my opinion here. Your tolerance for heat must be very different then ours and the hundreds of people in line with me today. Totally fine, but absolutely worth pointing out to anyone considering a trip with any new impending restrictions potentially coming down the pipeline.
This is a good point. Even last summer/fall; sure we're social distancing and masking and not eating/drinking in line...until it becomes intolerable; then it's inch up closer to get to the shade, run for cover with 100 of your best pals to sheild from the rain; use your mask to fan yourself while standing in the beating down sun in line, eat/drink cause the line is so long. - And this was when there were actual capacity limits.

- These were all very common scenarios we saw during all of our post-covid trips; so really I'm not sure what good the hot, sweaty on and off again mask is doing for anyone.

Whatever you say. Thanks.

And I don't think anyone sees Disney decreasing capacity and increasing social distancing with the 50th coming up. They just announced more resorts and restaurants will reopen.

Plus there’s probably twice as many people. I would think enforcement would be a bigger issue this time. What do you do when no one in line has one on and you don’t really care yourself?

Why not go and just wear a mask regardless of guidance or Disney policy?
I wore mine and plan to during my trip next week. But a new mandate at Disney would give me WAY more peace of mind knowing that others around me aren't spewing their particles. Extra protection for all.

For us, a revised indoor mandate will be the difference between us visiting shopping or other indoor venues such as indoor rides/attractions. If everyone is required to wear a mask we feel far more comfortable for us and our 2 year old. Without an updated mandate this will likely become a resort only trip (which is fine - and yes, that's our comfort level, not yours).

We were just there in July - both fully vaccinated except for our daughter - and 5 days after our trip we all tested positive. We masked indoors and out. Had everyone been masked while we were waiting for fireworks or at indoor venues would we still have gotten it? Maybe not.

Did you get sick?

So the CDC updated their guidance today to be recommended masks by all in public indoor spaces, and all schools regardless of vaccination status. Am I understanding that correctly?

I too, am curious, how Disney and Universal will handle this. They have guests not spending a ton of time in indoor spaces (often restaurants where masks are removed anyways) and asking nonvaccinated to mask up. On the other hand, they've prided themselves on following CDC guidance so far. Their lawyers and analysts aren't going to get ANY sleep, that's for sure. Add any union requirements to that and things really get complicated. I can't imagine how they SHOULD handle this, much less guess what they will do. :scared1:

I was asymptomatic, but by wife had all the classic symptoms (headache, loss of taste/smell, body aches) which prompted us all getting tested. Sick or not, we were still potentially spreading it.
I understand but at this point we have a vaccine. It really is a choice at this point. We have so many vaccines in the US that people won’t take we are giving them to other countries. And even kids, if you don’t want them exposed, you have to make a decision on whether you do or don’t take them. But kids have been shown to not effected that much or even transmit it that much.

It is all schools. indoor places with more then 300 cases per 100k what I heard. I agree I really think it’s a challenge for Disney or universal to roll back for what would last a month or however long to get below that number. I am sure the employees don’t want to be policing it anymore either. Especially since they either can get vaccinated so easily.

Why not go and just wear a mask regardless of guidance or Disney policy?
Exactly. It’s not like Disney is forcing anyone to NOT wear a mask.
Because the policy works best if we all do it. The CDC recommending this change means they find it necessary and helpful, and if Disney chose to disregard the recommendation, I would question their commitment to guest safety.

Did your daughter show symptoms?
