Will Contemporary Resort really be that popular?

I'd pay it ($120.00) for the convienence of the Monorail.

I wouldn't pay it for anyother resort, or site, except perhaps for the Grand Californian.

I would pay it for Contemp, or GF or Poly if they had it. I would probably go as high as $150 if the Poly had it. The monorail would totally be worth it.

You know, I've been wondering if they wouldn't demolish the garden wings, and make the new units tower like structures - obviously, with higher points needed for those facing the MK? They wouldn't use as much land if they were building upwards.

I can't imagine they would demolish the south wing at this point, since they are taking considerable effort right now to rehab and remodel the whole thing. They apparently are not, however, rehabbing the north wing, which gives the CRV rumor considerable credibility. I guess good planners and architechts can do anything, but it would look pretty odd if they built a tall building there next to the 3-story south tower.

No we would not purchase additional points at the rumored DVC CR (VCR).

However if DVC is built at AKL we will add on in a big way.
Previously I would have considered buying at CR until I stayed at AKL. Now I would buy at AKL in a heartbeat and CR - well absolutely not if the points or dues are significantly higher. I'd just as soon hope for a decent cash rate or if it became DVC to try at the 7 month window instead.

i don't think that we would buy additional points there either. But we would love to stay there at least once. The points would have to be a better value if it was a DVC than they are now. I have a diifcult time spending double or triple the points to stay at a Disney hotel when the accom. are so nice in the villas.

I probably wouldn't do an add-on, but would have if it had been offered 5-6 years ago. The "problem" with the CR today, IMHO, is that it just isn't nifty enough anymore. Building a new DVC building, complete with new theming and full kitchens, would resolve that.

I've always voted for a new, updated "elegant space theme." I love the look of constellations, stars and planets and that could look fabulous as part of a futuristic decor. I think the retro-space theme has runs its course and doesn't have the elegance of the Beach Club or Boardwalk. I hope they build a new building and transform the theme into a luxurious, Disney-esque universe :earseek:

Contemporary is already footing its share of the bill for the Resort monorail service...unless picking up a share of the monorail cost is the bartering chip to enable DVD to 1) demolition a part of and 2) build on to the Contemporary.
Without a doubt. VWL folks pay fees to support both bus and boat service, both of which existed prior to the villas. Adding DVC property onto an existing resort means, unequivocally, that Disney will benefit from DVC picking up a share of the fixed cost (plus, of course, the associated variable cost) of all services provided.

I don't think that we would buy an add-on there...but if we could stay there with the 7 month window, we probably would.
Now...give me a Polynesian DVC...than I am buying!!!!!!!! :cool1: :cool1:

We own at HH and BCV and we would add on at AKL. We loved AKL the first time that we visited and would love to stay their regularly. I don't think we would add on at the Contemporary, but might if they did one at the Grand Floridian (highly doubtful). We do not plan on adding on at SSR or if they do Eagle Pines (no way).

Don't know how long ago you stayed at the CR but years ago you couldn't walk to the MK from CR. That entrance and the bus stops didn't exist. You had to go by monorail or boat.

Well, I'm glad to know that. Everytime we went to the monorail we had to tear our younger DS away from arcade games. It was a very frustrating time.
Thank you, at least I know that maybe we HAD to do it that way. It was in '83, that's my best guess-ti-mit.

Oh, in 1983 you certainly couldn't have walked to the MK. It wasn't until so many more resorts were added and the resort buses stopped going to the TTC but instead to the new bus area that the area opened up. There was boat service from the CR to MK in the early 80's. But boat or monrail was the only way to get there from the CR. Two magical ways though. :sunny:
