I will be cruising with my 6 yo DS and 2 yo DD. Mother and I are concerned that 2 yo may roll out of the bottom berth in our stateroom. She sleeps in a bed at home that has rails on it and "thrashes" about when she sleeps. She is not a wild sleeper but even so......wondering if DCL has some portable rails we can use? We don't want to use a portable crib for her for two reasons....1) she likes to do whatever her big brother does 2) she is getting tall now and I don't think she will fit in crib.

Please advise on the pull down beds/couch in rooms and how you handled this will smaller kids.

Thanks!

I'm cruising in December and had a similar concern. It's a long way down from the beds that come down out of the ceiling.:upsidedow When I spoke with a DCL rep, I inquired about bedrails and they did say they had them. So, I requested them. We'll see what happens.:D :earsboy:

Disney1998,

We are sailing on the Dec. 12 Wonder. It will be our family of 4 plus, sister's family and my mom. Thanks for the info about the bedrails.

DaddioTN.....No problem! Happy to share my info. We'll be waving to you as you board and we leave. We are sailing Dec 9th. Happy Thanksgiving.:earsboy:

Just ask your stateroom host/hostess when you arrive for bedrails. They'll happily find one for you and always set it up on the bottom bunk.

The bedrail for the top bunk is pretty small. It is about 3 feet long and is mounted in the center of the bed. We didn't sleep much the one night my 5 yo DD slept in it.

When she slept in the bottom bed, we would make sure the blanket was well tucked in on the outside, so she wouldn't slip out. She's used to having bed rails, too. Didn't have any problems.

I have an active sleeper, my 2 yo is very active in his sleep, but he didn't roll off the bottom berth, he even slept on it with his 4 year old brother and didn't have any trouble!

Just a cautionary note.... when we sailed on the Magic my DS was 5 years old and desperately wanted to sleep on the bunk that is mounted up on the wall. We had him all tucked in for the night, when much later, in the middle of the night, there was an ALMIGHTY crash, thud, and then silence! My DH and I were up in a flash to find DS had somehow managed to wriggle his way off the top bunk .... via the pillow end! He crashed head first on to the night stand and telephone below. And there we were, concerned about him rolling off the side!! We still cannot figure out how he managed to do this!! Today we can laugh about it, but at the time it was definately not funny. Thankfully, DH was not hurt at all, and only a little bit shook up. I think he was either dreaming and moving around, or perhaps even sleepwalking, not that he has ever done that before, or since. He wasn't upset or crying, but was eager to climb back up there and fell back alseep almost immediately! Meanwhile, DH and I were awake for hours it seemed, standing guard.....Go Figure! :rolleyes1

We were given a bedrail last year for our 3 yo DD. They were the nice mesh ones.
