I saw that he pardoned or commuted sentences for 14 people yesterday and the 2 border agents convicted of shooting a drug smuggler were nowhere on the list.:confused3

I thought for sure they would both be pardoned before he left office.

Bush has plenty of time to issue pardons.

But - I think these guys deserve some time in jail.

The actions of Compean and Ramos in shooting an unarmed, fleeing suspect, destroying evidence, and engaging in a cover-up, are serious crimes

I sincerely hope he pardons them, or it will be (in my opinion) one of the biggest blemishes on his legacy.

I'm guessing the PP has no real clue what these two protected those of us in border states from. If I were in their shoes, I'd have done the same thing, but I'd have aimed a little higher;)

Well then you would have guessed wrong :happytv:

They have served some jail time, but I do think their overall sentence was over the top, they shouldn't have gotten 1o years. I think Bush should give them a conditional pardon.

Who says the drug smuggler was unarmed? Oh that's right.....The drug smuggler himself testified under immunity that he was unarmed. ;) It's hard to say if that's true or not since he hightailed his drug-smuggling butt back across the Mexican border before he could be apprehended. Ramos and/or Compean thought they saw something that might have been a weapon. But that can't be proved or disproved because Mr. Dope Smuggler made it back across the Rio Grande. Let me just say, if I have to decide whether to take the word of two US Border Patrol Agents or a scummy drug smuggler sneaking into the US, I am going to go with the word of the Border Patrol Agents. I hardly think a perpetual drug smuggler is a trustworthy witness. Gosh, if given immunity, he might even try to smuggle in drugs in the future. Oh wait......That's exactly what he did, isn't it???? Yeah right....He's an honest, reliable sort....:rotfl2:

The guy was smuggling in ONE MILLION DOLLARS worth of drugs. Let's just say he has an incentive to shoot to protect his cargo. And R&C tried to report what had happened...Their superiors dropped the ball on that one and then hung them out to dry when the stuff hit the fan. Read ALL the facts, not just the selected ones Johnny Sutton likes to put out there.

As far as I'm concerned, R&C don't deserve to be wearing prison numbers on their chests. No, for shooting a career illegal alien drug smuggler in the butt, you ought to get a bright shiny medal for your chest, plus a nice bonus and a pat on the back. But prosecuted by your own government??? That's a travesty.

If Bush has one ounce of personal integrity, he will pardon these men. And someone will investigate just how deeply Johnny Sutton is in the pockets of the Mexican government. :scared: When they say, "Jump!" Sutton asks, "How high?" Sadly, he asks that question in stereo with George W. Bush. :headache:

I certainly hope President Bush pardons these men. Besides the fact that he has kept us safe from national terrorism during his tenure, this will be one of the things that would make me proud. This to me, is a no brainer, pardon these men.

I sure hope so. If he does not pardon them, it will be a huge disappointment.

The hoops our BP agents have to jump through to do their jobs is amazing. Living so close to the border (about an hour now that we moved north a bit) we have lots of friends who are in the BP. The stories we hear would SHOCK you. No offense, but the majority of people who live in the northern US really have no clue what it can be like here. My in laws live in Ohio and they never really get what we are talking about until they come to visit. And even then it is for such a short time it is lost on them. Living here, we need more BP with the power to actually DO what they were trained to do. Sometmes they are glorified babysitters. It is wrong, wrong, wrong. We have dumbed down our defenses on so mahy levels.
I will never EVER understand how illegals seem to have more rights than some US citizens. It is an issue that must be addressed.

Sorry to "vent" but this is a big time hot button with me. :scared:

If anyone deserves a pardon this guys do. They should have never been in jail in the first place

I was very disappointed that Campean and Ramos were not given a pardon. These men have been in solitary confinement! :scared1: :sad2:

My mom and I were talking earlier about how we hope he pardons them. They never deserved to go to jail.

I'm another one who believes these two agents should get a full pardon. I remember watching the United States Attorney "justifying" his prosecution on TV. I wanted to puke.

Criminals do have more rights than victims and that's a sad, sad thing. There's also a Sheriff's Deputy doing time somewhere for a similar incident. He's another good candidate for a pardon.

I don't think that Bush will pardon them because the US Attorney is one of Bush's buddies or so I have been told
