Will be there next week - a few questions

We will be there just for a day and a half next week and I have a few random questions. We have two teen kids. We're staying at Royal Pacific, so we will have Express Passes (not sure if they're needed). We're not worried about wearing masks and plan to be extra cautious with hand washing and distancing. We're looking forward to being there!
  • How have the crowds been? We're especially interested in the Wizarding World areas.
  • Is it true that you can get your wand battery replaced for free?
  • Is Margaritaville open?
  • I'm trying to look at wait times occasionally on the app. Is there a way to see a list of rides instead of all rides together on a map? I can't seem to figure out how to change that view.
  • For anyone who has been there since it opened back up - any words of wisdom you'd like to pass along?

Thanks for anything you're able to help with!

Is Margaritaville open?
Yes

When you're looking at the map view, in the top right corner there are three dots with three adjacent lines. Click that. It will list out the rides with the wait times for whichever park you're viewing.

We'll be doing a RP stay in mid August. Can't wait! I've heard crowds have been very manageable. With EP+Virtual Line for Hagrids, riding everything (multiple times) shouldn't be an issue.

For example, right now (4:20 p.m. on a Wednesday) most everything was 20 mins or less. Mummy was 35, Shrek 4d was 30, and Hogwarts Express ranged from 25-40. Both Forbidden Journey and Gringotts were 10 min. So not bad at all and with EP you would zip right on most of those things.

Also, I saw a wait time for Poseidon's Fury?!?! I had no clue it was back open. Lovvveee that stupid attraction ha.

I’m here now. We arrived on Sunday & are staying at Hard Rock until Saturday. The crowds are extremely low. If you don’t mind wearing your mask, it’s really wonderful with low crowds.

The Express Pass does come in handy at certain times. There are daily thunderstorms around 1:00-2:00. The outdoor attractions will close & the indoor lines will grow during this time. We go to the parks after the storms pass & they are pretty empty.

We’ve had no problem getting multiple virtual queue reservations for Hagrids. I’ve been able to make our reservations from our hotel room in the morning.

We’re here now too and I’ll second all this info. Crowds are really low...especially for July. We have express passes too and pretty much everything has been a walk on. Absolutely no issues getting Hagrids on the virtual que. The line for that one looks long but we’ve gotten through fast both times. You guys are going to have a fantastic time.

Bring / buy a poncho. It rains pretty much every day this time of year. Better yet, plan your lunch break for that 1-2pm rain storm and get out of it altogether. They don’t last long.

Agreed about Hagrid’s. The virtual queue does look long & winds around the talking fountain. However, it moves extremely quick. It’s only that long because of social distancing spacing. We’ve quickly walked without stopping since joining the line.

We watch the weather & do plan our lunches for storm time at our hotel. At the Hard Rock, you can eat under a covered patio at the Beach Club cafe & watch the storm from your table. I’ve found it relaxing.

The wands don't have batteries. They work by having a special reflective tip that the sensor in the window display picks up.

But, if your wand isn't working (i.e. there is something wrong with its tip) they will indeed "repair" it for free (i.e. they usually just go to the back and bring you a new one).

Thank you!! Never knew that!
