Will airfare rates go up tomorrow?

Just wondering if airfare will go up tomorrow as a result of the new year? I still have to book the tix for our March trip. They have been sitting around $204-$214 rt for two months now. Should I just bite the bullet and book them today?

We are traveling with our 1 year old son so I'm probably going to book Delta through Expedia. You can directly book an infant seat through them. If I go directly through Delta I have to call them and then book our seats online, etc. Big hassle to me. I don't know why Delta just doesn't have it set up to book infant fares. If Expedia can book them, I would think Delta could too.

The airfare is $236.20 rt on Delta. Just a little cheaper on Expedia (and that does include the booking fee) which I find unusual. Usually I have always booked directly through Delta because the price always ends up being the same.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I would think that rates on airfares can only go up. Especialy with the cost of fuel recently. The fares you posted look like great prices to me.

I don't really know if the fact that tomorrow is 1/1/05 will have any affect on airfare. (Every time I guess on airfares I guess the wrong way so good luck!)

Just know that you cannot get skymiles if you use a non-delta web-site. I could be mistaken...perhaps it's just if you use priceline. But you may wish to check.

I don't think the new year changes anything unless you know of some taxes that take effect on Jan 1, 2005.

I think it probably would have been more accurate if I said I don't think the same fare will get lower. Is Delta still the Disney "official" airline ?

You can get skymiles for most flights booked on Expedia/travelocity etc.... You don't get them for Priceline, Hotwire. However, if you buy a package you don't always get them. I have no idea how they make these decsions.

Thanks for the replies. I just checked both Expedia and Delta this morning and neither one has yet to increase the fares. I guess I better get in gear and go ahead and book.

I don't think that the fares will drop any further since the trip is about two months away.

Thought I'd post about our tix.

Well, bit the bullet and called Delta directly since I'm booking a ticket for my one year old son. Talked to Tonya in Dallas and she was GREAT! Ended up getting the exact same fares as online so no price difference. I don't guess I'll get the 1000 bonus SkyMiles for booking online but oh well.

2 adults, 1 infant from Louisville to MCO and back (direct both ways)
$599.70 for all 3.

Not too bad I guess for 2 months out. I'm pretty happy with it. :Pinkbounc

That is a great rate for our area. Have a great trip!

Sometimes you can snag cheaper air fares out of Louisville...but not usually on Delta. What you paid is pretty standard. We have driven to Indy to fly out of there a couple of times lately because the airfare was less than 1/2 as much as out of Louisville. If you found cheaper fares out of SDF it would probably be through Vacation Express (charter service with cheap fares but a very limited number of flights) or on SW which has pretty bad times on their non-stops out of SDF to MCO. Keep watching, if you see the fares go down on Delta they will give you flight credit for the difference (and oh darn....then you'd have to go back to WDW to use up the credit!!)

Yep, that's what I thought too. I don't think the fares will drop now though so I'm glad I went ahead and got them. But just to jinx myself--they'll drop now!

So far we've always flown Delta. I've never been able to get cheap SW fares for the times we need to fly. This trip would've cost close to $800 on SW. And in the past, anytime SW has run a cheap fare out of Louisville, Delta has dropped their price to the same. We've gotten some pretty cheap tickets on Delta (one trip was only $120 pp rt). This is probably the most we've paid except for the time we flew out of Cincy.
