Will a AAA TA get us just as good of a deal?

My DH and I are in a stand off right now. I have everything set up with our AAA TA and just need to give her our Disney Visa to make the deposit. DH wants to call Disney himself and see if they will give us a better deal because he is calling directly. This is a result of booking last years vacation. We were ready to book through AAA but he spontaneously called Disney COINCIDENTALLY the day the 30% off rooms was made public. We are Disney newbies and he is completely convinced he got us a better deal last year because he called directly. LOL. I assume if he would have waited and talked to the AAA agent that day she would have also known about the 30% discount? :confused3
Thoughts before I get tired of waiting for him and I pull the trigger with our AAA agent because the offer is made public tomorrow?

You will get the same price through Disney as through the AAA agent. If there is a discount through Disney (which the Disney Visa deal is), you can only use one discount. He can call if he likes but it should be the same price.

Be sure to give the AAA agent the Disney Visa Discount code. It is not listed on the Disney Travel agent site so they have to put it in manually. Of course, the same is likely true if you call Disney directly.

The code for visa card holders is CKN. You should make the reservation yourself if you want to have control of changing anything on it. Are you sure your agent will call today?

I just bit the bullet and gave my AAA TA the green light to book with the Visa discount! I was getting nervous that if we waited much longer we would not get our first choice. Well we did! Five nights, six days (Park Hopper), Beach Club (garden view, club level). I entered the information on the Disney site and the quote was $960 more than what we are paying. I'd say that is a good savings?! I am so excited! :yay:

Congrats on your vacation! Sounds great.

A huge benfit of booking with a travel agent like Dreams Unlimited is that they will continue to check for the latest offers and get the best offer available applied to your reservation.

I don't believe that booking through Disney or AAA provides this benefit.

Dreams Unlimited is a great travel agency and they cost you nothing. I have used them several times and I love their service.

Have fun at WDW!

I think some AAA agents are better than others, but most will rebook for you whenever there is a discount. Still, it helps if you know what the discounts are so you can double check with your agent. Personally, I like dealing with one agent instead of multiple people. I am DVC now, but if I need regular resort rooms or to book a cruise I use my AAA agent.

Our AAA agent is great. She looks for all the deals, makes all the ADRs if you want that. We had the IPO make them this year. She also got us reservations for the AAA MK fireworks viewing package, plus the AAA Princess Storybook experience at Epcot. If you got a package, you can get those too. I find we get really good value with our agent.

Congrats on the great deal!

Next month AAA will have disney events and this typically includes gift cards. So maybe worth to wait.

I just have to say I tried to book twice with a AAA travel agent. Both times it worked out much better for me when I did it myself. I am not sure they are in the ball with Disney discounts and deals. Just my experience.

If you have a good travel agent, they will always keep tabs on discounts and apply them when they can - especially at AAA. AAA and Disney have a corporate partnership which includes regional Disney representatives that visit all AAA branches. This Rep is in constant contact with AAA travel agents giving them info on new discounts, policy changes, events, etc.

And you should never be charged by any travel agency unless you are booking airfare. Travel agents make their money on commission - not by charging you. Airfare bookings are the industry exception to this because airlines do not pay out commission. AAA may also impose a service fee if you are not a AAA member, but this varies by club. Since members pay an annual fee, this also makes sense.
