We went on the Wishes cruise from the Wilderness Dock and the boat captain took us out on the lake to look directly back at the Lodge....and you can see the bear. He told us that's what the architects wanted to create and it was beautiful!

We are going home to VWL for our third time in Oct. I am going to check out that bear thing. Thanks for the tip!

We love the peaceful atmosphere of VWL.
Walking through the main lobby late at night.
The music.
The crickets chirping at night.
The boat rides to MK.
All the details with still a lot more never seen.
WCC and looking forward to checking out Artists Point.
All the memories made there.
And the memories still yet to come.

1) The sheer beauty of a well-themed resort, unlike anyplace else at WDW
2) The music which, by the way, is largely comprised of original compositions by Aaron Copland, a great American composer. You can get a CD of his works cheaply through nearly any CD retailer including chains like WalMart. "Rodeo," which people will recognize from the "Beef. It's what's for dinner" campaign, and "Fanfare for the Common Man," an Olympic staple, are the two most recognizable movements. Look for an Elmer Berstein Century Collection CD with Copland's music on it. I think they may have played this the entire time we were at VWL.
3) Artists Point restaurant (the buffalo is quite good)
4) The quiet secondary pool near the Villas. The main pool is fine, but gets crowded. Rarely so does the smaller pool, and it has a hot spa, as well.
5) The lobby. Splendid!
6) The rooms. Our 1BR suite was superb.
7) The second lobby at the Villas. The main lobby can get loud and crowded at times, but the Villas section has its own lobby (it has no check-in desks, just chairs and couches) where you can sit down and relax, read a book, play a game, or just sit back and have a drink.
8) Easy access to nearly anyplace in WDW.

Wilderness Lodge is really in a class by itself. You really feel like you are a million miles away in a mountain lodge, but the Magic Kingdom is right around the corner. You will love it.

While I love the theming, my favorite thing is a little different. I love the music that you will hear in the background in the main lobby and the breezeway between the lodge and the villas. Nothing like the theme songs from great western movies like the "Magnificent Seven" and "How the West Was Won" to put you in the mood of the lodge. This is one of the great things about a room facing the pool, just open up your balcony door and listen.

I like Humphrey Bear. I like Artist Point. I like territory lounge. I like sitting in the lobby.

I shouldn't admit this, and it isn't as much fun since they made the top floor that stupid concierge level, but I like to take the elevator to the top of the lobby and then walk down the stairs, because each level has different stairs and it is so interesting, and you really feel like you are in the lobby. The first time we stayed there it was a honey moon room, and that is where I got this weird habit.

Telarc (with a c...was too caffeine deprived earlier) is a "high fidelity" recording company. They have a number of 'pop' culture recordings of the Cincinnatti Orchesta...musical scores from movies and TV. They don't have all of the songs...just the ones you'd recognize immediately if you'd never been to WL.

Or, since I already have the songs downloaded, I can just put a CD together for anyone that wants one. Just drop me a PM and I'll let you know how.

Our visit to Wilderness Lodge in October 2003 is what persuaded us to join DVC. We love Disney, and had been a few times, but we fell in love with the resort.

Our home is SSR, but we will stay at VWL someday soon.

The theme is extremely well executed, from the huge lobby, to all the detail in the woodwork. Both restaurants have their own unique charm - we love them both.

The grounds are gorgeous - and the pool area is really well done. I cant think of anything I dont like about the resort. We rent a car when we go - so it is never a hassle getting around for us. We have taken the boat to MK, and it is a nice ride.

Our trip is in Nov and I love when people post all these great things about the lodge. It's our first trip home but our 12 th trip, and we're so excited to be staying at the wilderness villas! . Counting down the days

VWL is our home. We love it! Electric Water Pageant is so, I don't koow, nostalgic! Don't miss it. I'm originally from the West, so the theme really makes me feel like I'm "going home."

Favorite thing about VWL...... that it's about a 10 minute boat ride to MK (one of my 2 favorite parks).

The thing I like least about VWL..... that it's forever to get to AK (my children's favorite park).

Well, that would be a pretty good description of it, except not nearly as grand as MSEP (how I miss that parade )

Like you mentioned, it floats around (on barges I believe) and visits all the MK resorts. It only lasts about 10 minutes. The resorts have speakers that play the music that goes with the 'electric parade'. It is low key but we love it.

The rocking chairs by the fireplace after a day at the parks. DH and I (before kids) would enjoy a beer near the fireplace. One of my favorite memories!

I'm surprised that Granny hasn't posted on this thread yet. He's one of the biggest VWL fans here. Even though I'm not quite as vocal about it, there's a reason that VWL is our home resort.....we love it there! The music, the crickets chirping, the fireplaces, the bird house in the VWL lobby, the quiet pool that is almost always quiet, even the smell says to us "Come in. Sit down and relax a while, and most of all, Welcome Home!" We'll be there again in 38 days!
