Hi All

I booked a room at the swan for July. Then today, would you believe, I finally received a postcard!!! I called and they are offering a great rate at the WL or AK. I can save quite a bit of money. I spoke to my mother-in-law, who works at a travel agency and she said the WL is the best, especially if you have teens. Any opinions??? Could really use some help here.

How did you get a postcard? How does anyone get a postcard? Is it because you signed up for Disney Visa, were a return guest, or something else? Or does anyone know how these things work? Or is it just luck? I wanna postcard, I wanna a postcard, I wanna postcard, I wanna postcard...............................................

Wa, wa, wa, wa, wa, wa, wa, wa, wa,.....................................

Personally, I agree, WL is the best. It's our absolute favorite. For more information, you should check out the WL fact thread.
It's jammed packed with valuable WL info and the "regulars" are always willing to help.

I hope it links as I always have trouble getting it to work...otherwise you'd find the post on this resorts board

If you don't mind me asking, what rate did you get at the WL?
ADP :D

The rate if for a standard room. However, my room at the swan is for a standard room also.

That sounds like a spectacular rate. It is the cheapest I've seen. I currently have a Wood View for $149 per night Woods View with the Disney Visa Code. I would gladly exchange that for your rate. Have a great trip!!!

I like it because I have to book 2 rooms. I have a total of 5 of us going with 2 teenage girls!! One bathroom DOES NOT work.

WL and AKL are both beautifully themed, and it probably becomes a matter of personal taste. I don't know that one is better.

AKL pool is bigger, although WL also has a quiet pool. WL is close to MK, which is convenient if you have younger kids. It's also just a boat ride away from the Contemporary, where you can jump on the monorail and get to all the MK resort restaurants (or just a few minute's drive, if you have a car). AKL has animals!

Both are very relaxing and away from the madding crowds. What great choices!

We love the WL ~ and love your rate! Have stayed there 3 times and highly recommend it.

I've stayed at the Wilderness Lodge Villas, right next door. We used all the same ammenities as the Lodge, though. THe decor is beautiful, the pool is nice, it has a sand beach. Also, you're just a boat ride away from MK. I've heard the hotel rooms at WL are a bit smaller than the other resorts. We loved it so much, we're staying again in June.

I'm not sure what your rate is for the Swan, but I would pick the Swan over the WL any day (sorry WL fans). Other than it (Swan)being a beautiful deluxe resort with many amenities, you can't beat the location, location, location!!! To name a few advantages: walk to 2 theme parks, the many dining and entertainment options on the boardwalk and in the other boardwalk resorts, great pool, nice, newly renovated rooms. I guess the price would be the final determining factor me, because $124 for standard view at WL is a very good rate. If it were approximately the same, I would go for the Swan.

Good luck with your decision!

I'm staying at WL next trip because I have young children. However, if I had teenagers I would stick with the Swan. I think they will prefer being near boardwalk and more action.

My sister has stayed with teenagers in both areas of WDW. They got bored at WL. They had a great time at BWV because of the location.

With younger children, peace and quiet and being near MK. I think that some teens are that way, but more want a lot to do.

I would save the money and go to WL. It's a wonderful place to stay and I don't think you'll regret it.

I've never stayed at Swan but my daughters loved WL. 17 and 10. Couldn't get them out of the water mouses(small boats they can use to ride around the lagoon). With AP you can rent them about $30 an hour. Their dad took them to Bahamas during summer and rented jet skis for $50 half an hour. They prefer the water mouses. They had a ball with them. Kids also liked it because the hotel is not so spread out. Elevator nearest to our room took them right to Roaring Forks (counter service restaurant) and to the door leading outside to the pool. Its such a beautiful hotel. We upgraded to Conceirge for $70 extra a night. Could see the Fireworks at MK from our floor. Looking to go back again.

Good Luck,
Shirley

Thanks to all. I just booked the WL. My daughter said it did not matter where we were. She is bringing a friend. I have a feeling they will be fine. Also, she has a friend staying at the boardwalk, so I imagine they will be resourceful in finding a way to get there. I was a little worried about the Swan because of the conventions. Someone I know was there last summer and said the pool and other areas were constantly blocked off due to convention functions. I called the hotel to see if there were any large conventions scheduled at the same time. They said they were not sure. I am not taking any chances. I think we need to explore a little. WL is where we will be staying.

Congratulations on your decision! I didn't vote for WL, but I will say I have stayed there and it is very beautiful. It does have a really nice atmosphere and I think the kids will love it. While we often voice our opinions on the boards here, the bottom line to me is that you can't really go wrong at Disney, so any decision is a good one. Have a great time!
