It would probably help to tell people how long you are staying and at what time of year. :)

For my money, if it is when the decorations are up and you have young kids, then definately Wilderness Lodge.

If not and you will be there for a decent amount of time, then I would stay at AK and get a savanah view room.

Hope that helps.

A coin flip won't disappoint you either way.

Have a great trip!

AKL is my favorite resort but WL is also beautiful and a standard room there will be A LOT cheaper than a Savanna View Room at AKL. The Christmas decorations should also still be up at WL for at least some of your trip and they are BEAUTIFUL!

If money is not a big issue - you should take a look at some photos of both resorts and see which one you like better. They are similar in feel and have lovely, grand architecture.

One thing to think about is transportation. AKL is very remote and if you are going to use WDW transportation, you are limited to a bus. WL has boat transportation to the MK, Polynesian, Contemporary and (I think) the ticket and transportation center. If you are going to have a stroller, it is much easier to get on a boat or the monorail with a stroller than a bus.

You will not be unhappy at either place, I'm certain!

My guess is the 2-year-old may enjoy the views of animals more at AKL.... but if you plan to spend time in the restaurants there, he might be happier with the food at WL. My DS10 didn't like the food at Boma when we stayed there (too exotic for him), but he could handle the snack bar place ok. On the other hand, he loved the Whispering Canyon restaurant, as well as the Roaring Forks snack bar at WL 2 years earlier when we were there.

Having said that, his highlight was seeing the animals at AKL, and they are EVERYWHERE. Not sure about a 2-year-old, but those are my thoughts.

We have stayed at both and enjoyed both. I liked the food better at AKL, but the location of the WL better, at the AKL I felt like I was on the bus a lot! I don't know if swimming is a consideration in January, but the pool at AKL has a zero entry, while the WL pool does not. There were a lot of little ones in the zero entry part of the pool at the AKL who seemed to be enjoying themselves!!

We had a hard time choosing between both and just decided to split our stay. It is our first trip, no kids in tow. We will be there Jan 4 - 12. :flower:

You have a two year old, I would think you would spend a lot of time at the MK, then try WL because of its proximity to the MK. They are both beautiful but my vote goes to WL. :goodvibes

Having stayed at both within the past year with DGD at age 11 months at AKL and at WL at 16 months, I would have to say WL. As much as I love AKL, and the pool is much better, and the animals, and Boma...it was much easier to take advantage of the boat at WL and there was more to do there. We did the surrey bikes to FW, and the pontoon boat on Bay Lake, and the EWP and we watched wishes. I definitely like the AKL theming and food better but it was so much nicer at WL with the baby.

I have stayed at both and would probably stay at WL with a 2 year old. There seemed to be more to do outside, bike riding, walking to FW, and the boat ride to MK was so much nicer than riding the bus. You can always visit the AKL. The interior is much the same, and I love both, but the MK boat makes a big difference. We had never stayed so close to MK before, and will probably be in that area from now on until my kids decide they like another park better. I don't remember a kiddie pool at AKL, but the one at WL was very nice and big. My dd6 even played there one evening.

Thank you so much for your opinions, I really didn´t know which to choose, they both look really nice.
For what I´m reading maybe this time it will be WL.

Thank you again

I would say the WL due to it's location and transportation options. Young kids prefer the MK over any of the other parks. With two little girls we found ourselves back to Fantasyland, Toontown and Tomorrowland more than any other place in the WDW.

It is fairly easy and fast to get back to the resort for your 2 year olds afternoon nap. Plus you have a wide range of restaurants within the area of the WL. It is easy to get to the MK for parades, fireworks and see the Electric Light Pagent on the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake next to the WL.

AKL would be better when your child is a little older. :wave2:
