Wilderness Lodge Room Reservation Problem (and Solution!) at Check-In

I agree Higgin704. I hope they don't do away with allowing room requests. That would be a shame. I would never be able to complain about not getting what I requested. I just would never be able to do it.

Nipizzaro,

Just wanted to say I'm so glad everything worked out for you. We're doing AKL and Poly on this trip. Maybe we'll try the WL on our next Disney trip.

Have to agree with Peachgirl on this one. Room requests are not guaranteed and realistically they can't be. I mean not everyone is going to get exactly what they want. It's not possible, not everyone can have the perfect view and no one person is more deserving than another. All reservations are given to the resort at the same time about 3 days out so booking early does not affect this.

I agree that the compensation was for the manner in which the situation was handled not an admission of any wrong doing in making sure requests were met. The OP should have never been told about a certain room unless that room was ready for occupancy. That is policy and as Peachgirl said I am sure someone was reprimanded for that.

I have to say for the situation I think Disney went way beyond the normal limits in making the situation correct. I am also very surprised that Guest Services in the MK allowed them to visit the park and then get a refund on the tickets later. I find that very usual and very generous.

What if other guests want to do this to see a parade or fireworks that were not available the day before. At what point does it end?

Thanks to all for their opinions. I'm so disheartened that a simple posting of a POSITIVE EXPERIENCE has riled up so many people with so much to say and so much time in which to say it. It honestly scares me that my family and I roam the same Disney streets with you.

This Board would be well-advised to monitor and concern itself HIGHLY with rules around privacy and its violations. I have filed several written complaints stemming from "askmickey" taking upon himself/herself to violate privacy by reviewing (or claiming to have reviewed) my reservation.

Let this be an important lesson: even in the cyber fantasyland of Pixie Dust, there are those willing to violate rights and safeguards in order to make their ill-conceived points. BE CAREFUL.

You may have a right to be upset with the Cast Member that reviewed your reservation and then discussed it here. If so that would be an issue to take up with the Disney resort being discussed.

However I don't see how you can hold this forum responsible. When you choose to participate in a public forum such as this and share information about yourself or specifics about your vacation you have basically given your permission for such to be discussed.

As long as the terms of service of this board have not been violated then you should have no complaint with the forum. This forum prides itself on it's standards, but it is a public forum and that does involve loss of one's privacy at times.

I do not see where this forum violated any of your rights.

nipizarro,

I do believe your privacy was violated when your reservation was looked up.

I was actually rather shocked when I read this had been done.

I am sorry this turned into such a negative thread. I have seen threads concerning compensation turn into this many times before.

I wasn't going to respond to this thread until I read your ressie had been accessed. I know it's just a Disney reservation but it still should be kept private because there is a treasure of information in a single ressie.

I wasn't arguing whether the compensation was right or wrong. I take issue when privacy is violated though. I am certain it is against policy for Disney as well as these boards.

I doubt your complaints will result in any consequences other than succeeding in ruining a valuable resource for people who frequent these boards. As I said, Askmickey is a very reliable, honest source. I have no doubt that she was fully authorized before doing anything.

I may seem a little opinionated regarding this subject but I have had a family member have their identity stolen and recently my SIL and BIL had over $5000.00 charged on their credit card by an employee of the hotel they checked into.

My job also revolves around helping people keep their privacy and what to do when someone violates it.

Maybe askmickey did have free access to all reservations but Disney probably has some policy prohibiting access for personal use and that's exactly why it was accessed-for personal use. No further action was going to be taken on the part of WL management so the issue was handled and done. That's where it should have stood.

You can be as open or as private as you want to on these boards. That's a matter of personal choice. It's not right for a Disney employee to look up your ressie simply to try and prove you wrong.

Do you want someone on these boards to look up your records at your bank, doctor's office and the like just for the heck of it?

I don't know what precise action askmickey took in order to find out details of the problem the op had. I'm certainly not going to jump to the conclusion that she did something illegal, unethical or against WDW policy in order to find out that information.

Everyone else is free to jump to whatever conclusions they wish. I for one am done with this unpleasant thread. The sooner it's closed, the better.

First, people do have access to your personal information all of the time. Anyone can find out anything about you in a matter of moments. If you think that askmickey is the only person looking up your personal info, think again.

Second, askmickey did not divulge any personal information, other than to refute the statements being made by this person.

Third, if I start making wild claims about the WL, I would have no problem with a Disney employee checking me out. Give me a break. All kinds of companies access my (and your) personal information each day.

I do know any number of people see my personal information every day. There are certain steps I can and do take to minimize that.

I just don't think askmickey should have declared on these boards that he/she looked up someone's reservation. It just doesn't seem right.

I never said that I thought askmickey was the only one looking up personal information. Unfortunately, our information is everywhere.

All I stated was that I thought it was wrong to use your position at WDW to look up someones ressie and then post about it. This only involved the guest and the manager and it should have stayed that way.

Whether or not the OP's post was "wild" doesn't give any WDW employee the green light to say "I'm gonna prove you wrong".

It just bothers me because guest service is top priority at WDW and a part of that is making the guest happy and also giving them some notion of privacy.

What if you stay there next year and an employee doesn't like you and looks up your ressie and starts calling your home or something after you get home?

That's all I'm trying to say-there should be one policy for accessing ressies, regardless if the reason seems harmless. The next person that accesses it may not have good intentions.

VB,

Don't you see that you are making an awful big leap? From access of Disney employees to harrassment? What if Victoria's Secret sells my address and a Fredericks of Hollywood employee stalks me at my house? Another big leap.

I am not sure I LOVE the idea of looking up personal info, but it has to be irritating to a CM to hear this kind of stuff daily. They are deluged with people believing they are entitiled to the sky, and PO'ed when they can't have it. I think the only thing askmickey did was say "whoa, it didn't happen quite the way you are saying" and maybe that stops the next person who doesn't get their laundry list of requests honored from throwing a tantrum in the lobby.

BTW, we recently had someone steal our CC and charge a bunch of AOL accounts to it. That's life, it happens. I understand your concern, but I really don't think it was their intent to invade privacy, just to get to the truth.

Sammie........SO WELL SAID!!!

Seriously...if you don't want to hear what others have to say...then don't post anything on these VERY PUBLIC boards. How did the people posting opinions violate your rights?

Sweetheart, don't worry. I am sure if you complain enough to Disney, they will shut down MK so you and your family can walk the streets alone and in peace without the rest of us "scary" "jealous" people. :) But just until 1:00, right.;)

I have to say here that I have to take issue with your thoughts of being on the same streets as 'us'. There is no need to get nasty here. I believe that for the most part we have all stated that we were happy you got the results you did. And then a discussion started. Nobody called anyone names. Nobody was behaving in a less than polite manner. Most of us here realize that sometimes we will disagree. We have agreed to disagree with no hard feelings. I, speaking for myself, apologize to you if you felt I was negative. Didn't mean to be. But, I just don't think that your family's safety on the streets of Disney is in jeopardy here. I would entrust my safety with just about anyone on these boards. But, I guess I could just be naive.

Well, that's what I get for claiming I was done with this thread...a personal reference...

Ah well...

Since you are new here and seem to be so overly concerned with board guidelines and rules....you might want to read the posting guidelines. You know, the part where it says personal insults aren't allowed? Someone just might report you!

Wow

This is as bad as the Sunrise Safari and kids post, or the "bargain hunter" post.

Check please !!!!!!!!
