I have a bunch of questions about Wilderness Lodge. I've got some health challenges, drive a scooter, and I'm wondering if Wilderness Lodge is a good place for me.

1. Can guests staying in Wilderness Lodge use the Hidden springs pool over by the Villas?

2. Are there rooms that are close to the Hidden springs pool, but also near the main resort areas like the counter service restaurant?

3. How long a walk is it from the Hidden springs pool to the counter service restaurant?

4. Are there unlimited towels at the Villa's Hidden springs pool?

5. Does the Hidden springs pool have entertainment and noise like the main pool? Or is it really a quiet pool?

6. Will I be riding my scooter over rough ground to get to the pool, or is it smooth? (When there's texture on the ground such as boards, or faux rock, it's painful for me)

Thanks

I'll try to answer some questions. First you should have a look at the WL resort map. This will give you a better idea of the layout.
Yes, you can use the villa pool.

WL is U shaped. Hidden springs quiet pool is on the outside of the south wing.

The food both CS & TS are in the north wing so if you are near villa pool, you won't be as near to food.

If you are in south wing, all you'd have to do is take elevator down to lobby and cross over to north side and go down that hall to food court. It us sloped down, but I assume you'll be in scooter? Halls are long.

Paths outside are paved.
Quiet pool is quiet, yes. All kids activities are at main pool. I haven't paid attention to if there are towels at quiet pool, sorry. I only used it a couple of days when they closed down main pool for maint.

You may get better answers on the WL thread. And they have a resort map. Read first page, there's lots of info there.

To get to MK boat, you have to go over wood boards of the dock. If this is too painful there is the option of a bus. There are 2 types of boats that go from WL to MK, and only the large boat can accommodate scooters.

yes there are towels at the quiet pool.

Thanks for the answers. It sounds like a good choice for me so far. Do you remember if the paving is smooth, or is it textured - for example like faux stone?

The paving outside I believe is smooth, I think the paving in hallway going down to Roaring Forks is slate tiles?
If you go on Allears.net in Accomodations section, you will find a lot of WL photos. I also encourage you to post on the WL thread of this board. They are a friendly bunch, and Kook will get back to you with answers pretty fast.

It's funny the little details of resorts get fuzzy when it's not important to you! I've stayed 3 times at WL, and you really got me thinking trying to remember details! It's a great resort, I hope you enjoy it.

I have pictures of paths with animal prints in them so they are not perfectly smooth- I believe it is concrete with designs in it but I am not positive. I feel as though Wilderness Lodge has less smooth ground than many of the resorts.

The Wilderness Lodge quiet pool is really nice. The pool area is very shady, in fact, almost too shady. It is very quiet, no pool parties. There are plenty of towels, too. The pool has bubbling springs which feel very comfortable to float in. And there is a large hot tub there, too. It isn't a zero entry pool, though. You'll have to use the steps to get into it. And I would guess it is five feet deep at its deepest end.

I LOVE the WL. It is the only place we have stayed in our visits. The quiet pool is the one to use. Our last trip was during a very HOT June and the quiet pool was quiet. There were plenty of towels and vacant chairs. There were a few kids, but they were not being loud, though they were kids. The main pool, however was very loud with kids yelling and playing and music so loud you could feel it. WL is not very spread out nor is the ground flat, but there are ramps so it is accessible. It is sooo peaceful. I really think you will enjoy it.

Thanks goofyfairy and everyone, we decided and made reservations for Wilderness Lodge.

Can you tell me which room location to request? I'll probably go to the pool almost every day, but I'll also use the restaurants daily a couple times, use the store, etc. I'd also like a full balcony - I see some of the rooms don't have one.

We didn't even realize that we could use the quiet pool until our last night back in December. I thought it was only for DVC members. It was def. quiet! We were the only ones in it. My kids really enjoyed it!
