I'm new to DVC and never stayed at VWL. What are the pools like there? I've been told that there is a main pool at the hotel and a quiet pool near the villas, but no mention of slides, etc. except for a mention of geysers in the quiet pool.
Will it keep the interest of an 11 and 15 year old?
Thanks.

There is a geyser near the main pool that goes off periodically, there is a slide, there is also a small waterfall. the water flows down to the pool from inside the lobby. The main pool is right near the beach, they have beach volleyball nets too. The quiet pool is just a pool. Not sure how much excitement your kids are looking for. My kids are older (19 & 16) and just like to cool off. They also have a printout of hidden mickeys at WL, your kids might like to hunt for them. They also offer hayrides a couple of nights each week.

We stayed at the VWL in July 01 and found that the quiet pool which is next to the villas was as the name says a great place for a peaceful half hour of sun and playing with our five year old. The place was never busy and with the hot tub being within 20ft of the pool it was an ideal place to relax.

The main pool which is about 2 mins walk away is great to but busier, There is a slide for the kids keeps all the children happy the geysers goes off on the hour and is fun. A great place for fun and only one mins walk away from a empty beach and boat and bike rental.

Have great fun the WL and VWL and the best.

This past September my wife and I stayed at the WLV for a week. It was lovely.
But when we wanted to use the so-called "Quiet Pool" behind the WLV, we found a bunch of guys playing football in the water who didn't give a hoot about any of the other guests.
Didn't feel like getting out and walking all the way around to the other pool to find someone (there is no staff present at the quiet pool). So, just tryed to stay out of the way.
Next time, I won't hesitate to get them kicked out!

Just to clarify a couple of things....

There is no hayride at WL. You'd have to go over to Fort Wilderness (the Disney campground) to participate in this. The WL front desk should be able to give you information though.

And I always get a kick out of the geyser information that is posted..... "It goes off EVERY hour, ON the hour" --and in fine print-- "7am-10pm."

Too funny!

ohiominnie :p

Actually, last summer the hayride picked up outside the villas, on the path between the villas and the WL. It was about $6 for adults I think. Did they move it??
