We definately want to stay close to MK and would love to be on the monorail, but also think the WL is really cool.

Which do you prefer and why? This is a hard one for us.

I've stayed at both and I prefer the theming at the WL over the Poly.

Don't get me wrong, the Poly is nice, has larger rooms and is on the monorail, a big selling point. However, the WL really gave me the "wow" factor. The lobby is jaw droppingly beautiful! I really felt like I wasn't in Florida. There's not a palm tree to be found! It transported me to the pacific northwest or someplace in Colorado.

I prefer WL because of the ambience and our family has emotional ties to WL. We stayed here the first time we went to WDW. When you walk in, the is such a WOW factor! Another plus is that it is all interior hallways and the Poly is not. I will say that the 2 advantages of staying at the Poly are of course the monorail and the rooms are larger with a day bed. The Poly just does not do it for me emotionally.
If you go to WL either staying there or visiting, be sure and take Ranger Stan's tour.
Good luck in making your decision.

It is really up to you in reference to what atmosphere you are wanting to experience. With that being said, we are with the OPs and like the WL as OUR favorite:cool1: It is awesome and you will have a great time if you choose it:thumbsup2

I have never stayed at WL so I can't comment on it. We stayed at Poly in 2005 and absolutely LOVED it! The rooms are wonderful. The beach and pool are fabulous, monorail can't be beat and watching the electric pageant and Wishes from the beach is magical. I would go to Poly again over choosing WL if only for the ease of the monorail.

Haven't stayed at Poly but stayed at WL in February and LOVED it!. We took the boat to MK every time and found it to be relaxing and quick. The resort is like a vacation on your vacation. It is peaceful and grand. We watched the Electrical Water Pageant from the beach and rented boats on the lake. We loved it all. Enjoy whatever you choose :goodvibes

The Poly also has boat rentals, and the EWP goes by the Poly at 9pm nightly :)

I love both resorts myself, but the Poly is my favorite of the two. I love the lush grounds and amazing views, and the rooms are a bit bigger than the ones at the WL. They are both great resorts and you just have to decide if you want the rustic theme or the tropical!

I have stayed at both Poly and WL and I love both lol
This trip I chose the Poly and believe me I was torn, but I chose it because of the monorail. Both resorts are beautiful in their own way and each has special things about it. You can not go wrong either way!!!!

I am sure I have now made you even more confused :goodvibes

Love love love the Poly!! (though we've never stayed at WL!) I've eaten there, and liked the theming a lot, but we just fell in love w/the Poly right away. It was awesome being on the monorail, and when one of our kids was very sick, they were so accomodating, it was unreal. So that's my two cents!! :thumbsup2

We've used both resorts and both are great. Our problem is that we go mulitple times a years and the Poly can get pricey. WL is a deluxe on a smaller scale but without the monorail and alot cheaper than the Poly. The ambience is fantastic, resort is very ornate and dining is superb. At the rack rate vs. the Poly we can stay extra days, are close to our favorite park, MK, still a boat ride to CR, to gain access to monorail and EPCOT and also a boat ride to FW. We can glimpse the high fireworks from the property and the EWP comes by every night here too. We have got to the point that most stays will be WL and then throw in a stay at the Poly just to keep the nostalgia of this wonderful resort and the costs of our trips reasonable.

I would go with WL...the place is awesome....
why not try something new...
Have Fun

It really is a matter of personal taste. Thank Mickey Mouse that Disney created so many different resorts to meet peoples taste. ;)

The monorail is awesome, and the rooms are very spacious. Nothing beats the location looking right at the Magic Kingdom and seeing the castle and fireworks. The theme to us really makes us go WOW. But that is just us.

My husband and I have often said that the we would like to stay at the WL because it is so close to the Magic Kingdom. Come Christmas time we are going to try and get a room there.

The price difference too can really make the decision for you.

GO with what floats your boat so to speak. You have got to like it. It makes all the difference in the world.

I've stayed at and love both, you would have to decide if the theming is more to your liking and being on the monorail is worth the extra cost.

Our family has stayed at both Poly and WL. We choose Poly. WL is beautiful
and I would stay there again, but I like the rooms at the Poly better. We stayed in WL over Christmas and we could hear toilets flushing all night long. We did like the boat ride to MK from WL. It drops you off directly in front of MK. I think I just like the atmosphere at Poly better. My kids seem to enjoy Poly more also. It is so nice to watch the fireworks and electrical parade from the beach.

The problem I find with the Poly is the high-traffic due to it being on the monorail. I don't feel the theming immersion and escape that other resorts offer.

Both pools are way too small for the size of the resorts. It can feel awfully crowded -- the Coronado Spring pools is the best.

Continue to share if you wish! This is what our plan will probably be. We have stayed at CS, CBR, POFQ and POP. We decided after our last trip with three children under the age of 5, that we will stay close to MK for the next few trips. When the kids get older, we cant wait to stay at the EPCOT resorts.

This is our plan. My parents might come with us. If my parents come, we will stay at WL. My Dad would enjoy exploring and having the woods all around. My mom would love the rocking chairs in the lobby and the log cabin feel. Its what my parents love.

We do love the WL and are excited to stay there.

If my parents do not come, we will stay at the Poly. We have eaten there, explored etc, but have never stayed there. Its our favorite resort. We just love that island feel.

Of course, we could change our minds tomorrow! HA!

Good thing is, we could use a large portion of the price difference to help pay for my parents and still stay close to MK at a Deluxe.

I figure its a win, win and am just thrilled that we are heading back that way!!!

Thanks!

Sounds to me like you've come to a great compromise! Good luck with whatever you decide and enjoy your trip!!!

That sounds like a great plan you've come up with! Remember if you end up going with WL, you can always take the boat to MK! I know you will be happy with either choice, they are both great! :thumbsup2
