Wilderness Lodge Mess

Hello all. I wrote an email but have not heard back yet. As the time is getting very close (and I am a planner), would I be better off calling or just waiting to get an email back or a call? WHat is your honest opinion?

Yes, definitely call. I did, and Disney Guest Services took care of our concern in the best way possible. Now we're even more excited about our trip. Be polite and courteous the the CMs, it's not their fault the pool is closed for construction. I attribute the fantastic outcome in my case to good karma for being polite and understanding.

We have a courtyard view at the WL for 11/8-11/12. Would you switch to a woods view, assuming one might be available, for those dates? Please advise. It's my boyfriend's first stay there and I really wanted to wow him!

Spoke to an amazing GS representative yesterday and switched from WL courtyard view with BB to the Beach Club - Garden View. The entire process was less than 20 minutes and the representative was extremely helpful. We could of stayed at the WL which included the $50/night discount plus the 1 day water park tickets but opted to relocate and try a new experience. AKL is was also an option that I declined.

Okay, I am going for two nights in December ..the 11 th thru the 13th. So my question is should I stay ? Don't want use pool but noise will make me unhappy. I booked it as it my favorite during Christmas time. And yes I asked on WL thread no answer. Any ideas. Thanks :)

Sorry if this was touched on, but I didn't see anything when I searched.

Those of you staying at VWL, are you also getting the water park ticket? We have a stay booked Nov 14-17th and there so availability at any other DVC location so we're kind of stuck.

ETA: Maybe I'm reading past posts wrong... maybe they were talking about the Poly and I assumed it was a post regarding WL?

I am in the same boat, we are staying for 7 nights arriving Dec 6th. Here is my thinking, they will want to have the construction completed by 11/27 because of the popularity of this resort during the holiday season for hotel and day guests. It is one of the most popular hotels during the holidays to check out and walk through. This is a weighted opinion lol, but think about it, it makes sense. Disney does not want a popular holiday resort under construction in December....right lol?

I'm checking in on 12/6 also! I'm worried they aren't going to have this project finished and I don't want to deal with another stay without a pool like my last one. It's a pain.

I hope your right! It's the best resort at Christmas, it really seems logical they wouldn't want it under construction then!

Only BB and it's automatic.

Thanks for the info. Is it because BB will be the only one open for the duration of the construction? Just wondering because we've done BB to death and for our late Sept/early Oct trip we were going to try TL. Would it hurt to ask for an exchange??

Really people? It's Disney. Do you not want them to upgrade? No maintenance whatsoever? They have to do this. Pick a different resort. For all of the *****ing that goes on, they do list that the resort is under construction. So talk to your TA. I'll bet they know.

:thumbsup2 That's what we did back in July. We were going to stay at WL for our November trip, but ended up changing because we know our two teenagers will use the pool a lot. We just looked on the WDW site to see what was available during our "free dining" dates and we called WDW Travel to make the switch before they ran out of availability. No calling or writing letters to complain. No looking for credits for "our inconvenience". Were we bummed? Sure. We have always wanted to stay at WL, but things happen. At the end of the day we are still going to WDW. :cool1:

Perhaps some kind person could post some pictures from his/her courtyard view balcony so we could get an idea what the view is looking like during the pool refurb? Thanks!

The refurbishment doesn't start for another 3 weeks...

I don't think they care about Christmas...I think it's more about whether they can get it done in time. A lot of us who go in November go for the tree as well and it won't be done by the time we were scheduled to to go.

Oh, thank you! I didn't read all 32 pages but from the amount of responses and the panicky nature of some of them I thought this was going on now!:confused3

Has anyone been able to get the $50 through hotels dot com, or expedia (same company)?

I booked through hotels dot com. I contacted them via e-mail and eventually got the response I posted here earlier, telling me everything was fine and there would still be 2 pools!

I booked through UK Expedia and was told they could not do anything for me because Disney doesn't 'own' my reservation. I kind of expected that and I'm ok with it because I got a really good deal anyway.

I would like the BB pass, my kids love water parks. Will I still be eligible for that even though I didn't book through Disney?

Yesterday I canceled my courtyard view reservation at the WL for 11/8-11/12. It's a special trip for my boyfriend and me and I just want things to be as good as possible. I don't want to risk a lousy view with the pool refurb. We still have an ADR for Artist Point and I will show him around the resort. Amazingly, I was able to book us a lagoon/pool view with full balcony at the Beach Club for those same dates which had just been canceled by another guest. I hope to stay at the WL with my boyfriend sometime in the future.

Has anyone staying at VWL as part of DVC received anything such as BB Tickets? I wrote an e-mail on behalf of my parents (staying in a Woods View room) and myself (staying in a villa using points). My parents received the $50 credit. I was added back to their card. We never heard from a CM. Nobody offered any BB tickets. I thought we might get those since we are staying through DVC, but we didn't. I'm just wondering if I should call and ask.

The pool construction is slated to be completed by 11/27.

The pool construction does not affect VWL so, BB ticket is not being offered at this time.
