I find it frustrating how poor the communication is from Disney. I booked CL for our 25th wedding anniversary, 1 nt before our DCL concierge cruise, and 2 nts after. I have never been contacted by WL concierge. Seeing all of these posts about phone calls and letters, I haven't received any of these. I have booked adrs, along with my travel agent.

Our travel agent was able to get us switched to AKL CL for the nt before our cruise, but cannot get AKL CL for the 2 nts after. I didn't ask for Disney to cause issues with my well planned vacation, it is time they start stepping up and contacting everyone impacted! Very tired of reading that some are getting resort credits, some are getting fabulous upgrades. Time for Disney to get it together and treat all of us fairly, not just the chosen few.

Makes it harder to justify spending so much money when Disney cannot even communicate fully with paying guests. We were sent a pin code late Winter and that is how we ended up booking WL CL. Now with the insanity of free dining, CL at most resorts is booked solid for our 2 nts after cruise. Not exactly feeling the Disney Magic that so many others are experiencing.

We are in the same boat (no cruise pun intended). We have been booked in a deluxe club level room since may but have yet to hear boo from the IPO or anything on the pool refurb. We have however decided to stay put regardless as we want to take advantage of the water park passes and there is another pool still available. However if mum continued to be the disney word with us, I will likely play dumb and see if I can finagle a discount or upgrade at check in.

I have heard some people say discounts are not available upon check in. If you want to stay, you will most definitely be able to get a discount of $50/night if you call now.

When I called I was perfectly calm and by the time I was done I was crying. They are not nice (well not all of the CM's)...but if you are persistent you can get an upgrade/money back.

Over on the WL thread, kook said she was told that discounts will be addressed on a case by case basis after check in. One would need to speak with a manager.

Why would they be mean? None of us chose for this to happen after planning our trips!!

Yes, I know what Kook said...other people have been told otherwise. Sorry should have clarified!

I know...One of the CM's had the nerve to suggest moving me to Poly...I said you have got to be kidding me.

If you do call, you need to be very careful that you ask what the CM is doing as they are doing it - I had some changes made to my ressie and was going to have to pay an extra $700 before I clarified what was happening. I was then moved to GS.
 
I love you guys. I would have never thought about calling for a discount without reading Disboards. I got the courage up to call today. The whole process took 28 minutes. First CM transferred me right away to guest services. Second CM put me on hold a lot. I just calmly stated I love WL and wanted to stay, but without the pool I was really disappointed. I told her I had read "online" that people had gotten $50 off a night. She put me on hold for a while more, but eventually we got a $200 discount ($200 will go back on my credit card as I already paid)!! That is like food for 2 days. That was in addition to the MM package discount we already had. She also reminded me about the use of the other pools. She also said when we checked in we would be given "water park tickets".

I just shot off an email to guest services to see if that gets me anywhere before I spend an hour of my life sitting on the phone with them. Will update with results.

It takes a while to get a call back if you email....I would just give it a try, but set aside two hours for it.

Hi all - we are planning for our first stay at the WL in early December. I hope the construction is done by then...can anyone tell me how we can find out if the work is on track? If it looks like it may get delayed, we will likely move. Does anyone know if Disney is known for keeping on schedule? Thank you so much!

This is purely just opinion, but I feel like Disney overestimates construction time to allow for overages. It seems things often open/soft open prior to their originally planned dates.
 
FYI It is my understanding that the indoor river is being eliminated ( humidity and mold problems). Just like the Poly I guess. Indoor water elements are being axed!!

I hadn't heard this before. Did you read this here somewhere, or find out some other way? If it was on one of the threads about the WL pool, I must have missed it.
 
Has anyone heard if those staying on points have gotten the letter? We arrive on Aug 31...staying in the villas and haven't had any communication from Disney!

I got the letter. A couple weeks ago. And we are staying on rented points! Posted on KOOKs thread too, but does anyone have any advice on whether we can ask Disney for some sort of compensation? Maybe a SWEET deal on a future trip? :lmao:

I'm thinking no, since we rented points, but hey, I guess it's possible, right?

Still no letter for me. And I am a cash guest booked thru disney. Our dates are 11/17-25. Wonder if they think they might finish up early and are waiting to send out letter to nov guests. Anyone else traveling in nov get a letter?

I believe that I'd be fine with the ADRs, and we haven't purchases tickets yet except MVMCP. If we cancel because there's no availability at another MK resort in our price range, I obviously don't need those tickets.

And yes, I know that it says nonrefundable, but this is Disney's change (one less pool, construction), not mine. When I booked the room and bought the tickets I thought I was staying in a balcony room at an MK resort with 2 pools and no construction!

They may refund your MVMCP tix if they can't find you another accommodation you'd be happy with. You will need to speak to guest services.

My guess is probably not, but what the heck...why not ask? It can't hurt. I'm also staying on rented points beginning on December 1st. I'm hoping it's done on time, but it's a really, really close call.

Yes, got the letter about two weeks ago.
 
I called to see what was available.. We currently have the bunk beds with courtyard view booked. I was offered 3 options: -$300 discount to stay -Move to AK Savanah View (same price) -Move to Boardwalk with water view (same price) We have been to the WL for the past 5 years. We love the theme and access to the MK via the boat, same goes for access to the CR. Any thoughts on what we should consider if any? We normally end up at MK during the evenings and when EMH is an option. Kids are 5 and 8.

Personally, I'd take the AKL Savannah View because it's a favorite resort of mine. Your kids would probably love it, though it would be different than WL. The AKL activities are a lot of fun and we never felt the location was as big of a deal as some make it out to be.

If you go to Boardwalk, you are in a great location, though. It has a great feel too. We love the magicians who perform out on the boardwalk.

It's fun to try new things, IMHO. We have enjoyed every resort we've tried for different reasons (WL, AKL, BC, CS, POR).
