Wilderness Lodge DISrs Memory Box Thread

That sounds interesting. Of course, since it's only been 4 months I will leave well enough alone. It took me close to a day just to find and map out the location it's at today.

I wanted it to be easy yet not too easy.

I wanted access for everyone not just the young/youthfull.

I wanted people to feel safe. I mean by staying close to where there are people but not too close

I also didn't want people going where they don't belong. This would of course draw bad attention to the box and get it yanked faster.

These are just a few considerations.

We found it, we found it!!!!!!!!!!

The box was really hard to close, but we were able to add our items and leave a note. DH left his media credentials from the Capitol One Bowl and his business card. I tied it all up with a lime green ribbon. I can't wait to come back in the spring to check again! It was a real highlight for the boys... they thought we were pirates looking for treasure when my 4 yo ds saw the big X he got so excited.

were able to find the box. Fred the X on the tree was a great idea. My DN loved the idea of a treasure hunt. She was the one that found d it while I read out the directions. I guess all the Nancy Drew books helped.

We stayed Jan. 1-5th at the Lodge we were in room 7127. Had a great time and Andi and Glenn from Concierge were the best I every had. Going to send them a thankyou gifts.

The bigger box might not be a bad idea. All though hiding it might present a problem. I am sure you will enjoy going through the box.I signed a card and left a snow white pressed penny.

I am leaving Thursday for WL, and I can't wait to go on the treasure hunt.

Keep in mind for those that are going down soon, I will be down from the 14th to the 18th and will be replacing the box with a larger one sometime within that period. While I am doing this, I will be removing it from it's home and bringing it back to the lodge to do my thing there. If for some reason the box is not there, don't panic! I may even leave a note at the spot in case someone goes and it's not there.

I hope that the new box lasts a bit longer than the last. I didn't forsee the popularity that it has now.

Anyone who will be down there that wants to help me with the box replacement is more than welcome to join me but of course, I already know where it is. If you want to hunt for it, you can.



just around a day or so. I am getting the jitters knowing that I will be going back to my secret box to see and catalog all of it's new items! Will also be adding something cool to it for those to come. More on that after I get back.

To all who found the box: Wasnt that such fun!! I had the best time locating it with my DS. It was one of the first things we did.

This was the first that i have seen this post and as i was reading it i was getting goose bumps, i cant wait until 84 plus days so i can search for this box. and the best part, i cant wait to have my whole family reunion in dec. and take a photo of all of us and then take them to search out the box again so we can add it, wow, this really is great.

i dont know how you can stand being away from the box, i would have to make extra trips there to just check and see how many people have visited the box and what they have left that was part of their lives.

Hi All!

My DH, DD(5) & I went hunting for the box yesterday (1/14) around 2:20 or so - right before we were to catch our towncar back to the airport. I wish I had more time to go through everyone's cards. I read a good bit of them though & it was wonderful to see.

Fred - I'll bet we passed in the lobby - you checking in (by the time on your post) and us walking out! This was such a wonderful idea. My DD loved looking for the treasure box.

My DH & I too had trouble getting the box closed, but made sure we did. A few people passed by as we were looking through it, but we had come back out onto the path & walked down a bit, so it looked like we were hanging out on the trail.

Stars723 - My DD found the pin in the bag. She asked what it said and I told her. She asked what it stood for & I told her New York Police Dept. She asked "like the ones in the building that fell down?". Bless her heart - she was 3 1/2 at the time, but remembers discussing it with us then & now. She did take the pin, proudly put it on her shirt "it's special - can't be traded". The card was still in there too. When she's not in the Disney frame of mind, I'll get it back into the box for you, I promise. We left a Pennsylvania quarter (My DD said it had to be something from home!), and another pin in exchange.

Hope the new box fares well. My DH says it will be a few years until we head back to WDW & I'll be able to see it - I do hope it's still there.

I'm was so upset!!! We just got back yesterday (1/16). I meant to go look for the box when we got there, before Majestic got there to replace it, and never got around to it - just too busy having fun I guess!! We went yesterday around 2:00 to look for it and found the spot with the tree and found NOTHING!!!!!!!!!! I was tearing the place up looking for it and my DH thought I was nuts!!! I'm hoping Fred just had it back at the resort cataloging it and that I was not totally just missing it.

Oh well, I'll just have to find it NEXT TIME!!!!!!

The box was there so you must have missed it's true hiding place which was behind the log behind the tree. Re-read my directions and I think you will see what I mean.

I did it! There's a new BOX in town!

Today was a slow day. We took advantage of the fact that we had nothing planned and had a relaxing and easy day.

One thing I got knocked out was the replacement of the Wilderness Lodge Memories Box. It's now in version 2.0 and bigger, badder, and SEXIER (uhh...can I use that word in a disney frame of mind????) than it ever was! One word of caution, because of it's new larger size, please make sure that if you go to it, you hide it WELL when you are done to keep others from seeing it. Also, I would advise against going at night since you can't see very well and it would keep you from hiding it to the best of your ability.

The original box was in good condition when I pulled it. It was great to go back and trace out my original steps to get to it. I felt soooo excited that I was going to finally see it again!

It was really cool going through the box. Lots of great things. Lots of great memories. I felt like I was part of every single one. Someone had left me a mickey ear that said there was something for me but I didn't see it. What was it supposed to be?

The pictures are cool to look at as well. How about we all try to add a pic next time you go? Sign it and make sure we know who you are! Lastly, I added a new surprise. Now when you find the box, there is a small bag inside that has some small ticket size momentos for you to take home with you. I won't tell you more about them to keep them a surprise. Some of you have been very original with the stuff you left in it! I loved it!

Oh and someone mentioned the smell in the near vicinity of the box....I agree!! It was awfull! I hope that goes away some time soon! Not sure what it is but it is BAD!

One of the most rewarding parts of my vacation was this box. I look forward to returning to it yet again.

Oh, no... When I took two of my nephews down is was right after the World Series, we had such a great time on the hunt they wanted to leave you something special...They went to DTD and found a Florida Marlins Pin just for you...Sorry I guess someone else took it we will be going in March, so we will have to think of something else...

Glad we have a new box and that you had fun going though it...have a safe trip home.
