Hi;

I'm new to this forum. I'm trying to search for some up to date information regarding the newest club level/deluxe/concierge room for 5 people at the The Wilderness Lodge.

When we booked for the 5 of us they said we would be on the 7th floor and it's a new room that is divided by French doors. After reading a little at Dis boards my husband called this morning and another person said these type of rooms are located on floors 1-7. How can they have concierge on all floors?

We always try and stay at the Wilderness Lodge. It's been our favorite for years. We went 2x to Disney last year and the second time brought a guest which made 5 of us and had to stay at the Yacht Club. While it was very nice we missed the Wilderness. When we called this year and found out about these new rooms at the Wilderness we were excited. We're still excited but confused. :confused:

Any help clearing this up would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

The rooms that are separated with French Doors are the Deluxe Rooms and they are on various floors but you have access to concierge. your room key will get you up to the 7th floor. We just returned yesterday and my daughter and her family had one on the first floor. I think it was Rom 1003. The view was of bushes and the patio was very small. We haven't discussed how much they actually liked the room. They stayed on the 7th floor last Sept so she can do some comparison.

Thanks Judy for your reply.

Unlesss they recently created a new jr. suite they are only on floors 1-6.

How much do these run? We have a family of 5 and have always loved to stay there but thought we couldn't have 5??

Those deluxe rooms have always existed. They used to be called junior suites.

Anyway, they cost this much per night (value, regular, peak, holiday, in that order)
Deluxe $485 $550 $625 $675

They sleep 6 total. 2 queen beds in the bedroom and a pull out sleeper sofa in the living area, separated by french doors. The bathroom also has two doors, so it is accessible from both areas.

These rooms are located on floors 1-6. Your room key will allow you access to the Concierge lounge/floor.

These rooms are pretty cool, but the thing about them that is NOT cool is that since they are considered "suites" in category, they are NOT eligible for any discounts, so you always have to pay rack rate.

I would only reccomend the Deluxe Club Level rooms at the Wilderness Lodge for families of 6 and families of 5 who MUST stay at the WL. Families of 5 could stay in a Garden View Concierge at the Poly for less or 12th floor Concierge at the Contemporary for the same price and be on the monorail. The Deluxe rooms are bigger, but the rooms at the Poly/Contemporary are plenty big for a family of 5 and they are at better located resorts.

You can get a discount for these rooms. We just returned and my daughter and her family stayed in a deluxe room. She had originally booked a standard concierge but never could get an AP rate but was able to get an AP rate for the deluxe for the entire stay of 8 nights. It turned out to be around $25 more per night than the rack rate for the standard concierge. The deluxe gave them the advantage of having two TVs plus the separated bedroom.

Good to know Judy! I had been told by a travel agent that these rooms never had discounts, since there were so few of them and they were considered "suites".

I disagree about saying that these rooms are only good for families of 6, though. If you have small children, the ability to put them to sleep and then go into a separate area to watch t.v./talk/read is PRICELESS, and worth much more than being in one room at a monorail hotel (in my opinion, anyway). When you are traveling with someone who is not part of the immediate family (a friend, relative, etc), it is also probably nice for them to have a separate sleeping space.

In case you haven't seen the "Deluxe room layout:

Info from WL "sticky" here on the DIS Resort FAQ thread regarding room locations:

orignally posted by HumphreytheBearThere are actually 25 "Deluxe Rooms" (Junior Suites) They are 1000, 1003, 1166, 1169, 2000, 2003, 2123, 2166, 2169, 3000, 3003, 3123, 3166, 3169, 4000, 4003, 4123, 4166, 4169, 5000, 5003, 5123, 5166, 5169 and 6123.

All of these rooms do offer a connecting option that would be a room with 2 queen beds or a room with one king bed that is either woods or courtyard view. Rooms X000 are the rooms in the North wing that are at the very end of the hall on the left corner, Contemporary side they are Lake/tree view, X003 are the 2 doors down on the right corner with a pool/lake/tree view rooms X123 are halfway down the south wing in the left corner overlooking the pool/lake/geyser. Room X166 is the room at the far end of the south wing on the left corner with a lake view and rooms X169 are 2 doors down on the right corner also with a lake view. Rooms 2123, 3123, 1166, 1169, 2166, and 2169 have "doormer balconies, due to the design of the building these rooms have brick on the balcony railing so you can not see out unless you are standing up (if you sit you see brick), just FYI.

Love the WL! :love:

Hi All;

Thanks for your replies. Very informative. I was told that these rooms were on floors 1-7 by the WD Travel Co. You would think they would know which floors these rooms were on.

Thanks again.

You would think, but you'd be wrong. Unfortunately, MOST of the people handling bookings at the WD Travel Co. have NO idea about specifics on the rooms. They probably pull info from a book or computer, which is not always 100% correct. Most of the agents have probably not even BEEN to one of the WDW resorts...some work in a call center in Tampa.
