Magic key upgrade question

I’m planning to buy a 5 day park hopper with lightning lane for December 15-19. I’m curious about the possibility of upgrading it to an Enchant key at the end of my trip (I know it’s possible they won’t be selling those). I have a couple questions about it:
1. 12/17-12/19 are blocked out for Enchant keys. Will I be still be able to upgrade to an Enchant key after visiting using my normal ticket (before upgrading) on those days that are blocked out?
2. Will the full price I paid for the ticket, which includes lightning lane, go towards the magic key or will they deduct how much I paid for lightning lane from the amount that goes towards the magic key?

You should be able to upgrade to the Enchant key even if it is blocked the day you upgrade. I suspect that they will deduct the value of the LLMP that you purchased from the pass and apply that to the MK.

I think this is the case: you should wait until you are done at the parks for the day on 12/19 before you upgrade, since once you upgrade, you will not be able to re-enter the parks since the ticket you now have (MK) is blocked for that date. But I am not 100% sure about this.

Also make sure that you are all at the ticket window at the end of the day when you are doing the upgrade. We tried this with just me upgrading all of our family’s tickets on our last day, and they required each person to physically be at the ticket window to process each upgrade.

On our last day, while sitting in Frontierland savoring the last hours of our trip, we received a push notification from Disney asking if we wanted to upgrade to the Enchant MK. The entire $776 was applied to the purchase price. We will get two more trips out of our passes, November 2025 and January 2026, so well worth the $198 upgrade price.

You could do it on the app when I last did it, but it has been a couple of years.

Can confirm the value with LLs was applied towards MK! I did the math ahead of time and then confirmed in the app after I scanned into the park the first day. I upgraded on my last day in the app before park close when I was done using LLs, as once you upgrade, your LLs will go away. (Also, earlier days of my trip were blocked out, so obviously didn't want to upgrade until the end even if I didn't have LL)

This was over 4th of July weekend so pretty recent

With LL being as expensive as it is, being able to apply that cost to a MK is such a good deal! Now I feel like I’m gonna get my hopes up and then MKs will be sold out on my trip lol. If they’re sold out on my trip I’m guessing it wouldn’t be possible to upgrade once they start selling them again but after my trip right? Maybe if I get a really nice CM to help me out… lol. But it seems to me that a lot of the time Enchant keys are available even when none of the others are right?

You definitely cannot upgrade your used tickets at a later time after your trip. You should be able to upgrade anytime until closing on your final day of ticket usage. Frankly though I would be very surprised if Enchant keys were available for purchase during the dates you plan to be there, so I agree that you shouldn't set your hopes too high.

Why would you be surprised if they’re available? Because that’s close to the holidays?

Yeah, and I'm not sure they have been available for sale that week any of the last 3 years. Maybe they finally were last year. I just can't remember.
