We are leaving soon for our 1st trip as DVC members.:cool1:

We bought at Animal Kingdom but could not get in there so we are staying in a 1 bedroom at VWL. This is perfectly ok for me as our first family trip to DW in 2007 was here. It seems fitting that our 1st trip home ends up being here.

All that said......is there a particular request that I should make for room location? We will have a car and we have 2 kids (6 and 3) if that makes any difference to your opinion. Sorry if this information is posted somewhere but I couldn't find anything recent. (that or I didn't search well LOL).

Thanks in advance to all the VWL lovers who may help out.:wizard:

Dede...the good news is that VWL is a very small resort, the smallest DVC resort on site at WDW. So there are no tremendously long walks or inconvenient locations.

See the aerial view below with WL with the green roof and VWL with the red roof:

As for views, almost all of the room views at VWL are of trees, which fits perfectly with the theming of the resort. Some people like to be on the "lake side" of the resort though the view there is still primarily trees with a glimpse of lake through them. Here's a typical "lake view" room view:

Some people like to be near the elevator and that's a request you might make.

Enjoy your trip!! :)

Should have known one of my fellow VWL groupies would jump on to answer your question. Granny's advice is spot on. Most of the views are tree views. I've always requested a pool view. The nice thing about the pool view rooms are they're close to the elevators. But any room at VWL is a good room in my mind. Enjoy your trip! :goodvibes

I'd ask for "close to elevators" or "close to lobby". That will keep you closer to the pool, buses, boats and main lodge. I was 3/4 of the way down the hallway on the 4th floor during my last trip, and while the walk wasn't terrible, I would have rather been closer to the lobby.

Definitely I would request a room close to the lobby/elevators. The walk to the very last room on the first floor was a bit long...A pool view is nice b/c often you can judge how quiet the pool is before heading down there.

Have fun!! We love VWL. Near the elevators is probably the only thing I can think of for a 1st time guest. But all the rooms are great. You are really close either way to the quiet pool, and not a long walk to all the amenities of the main lodge area.

I would request not to have the "service road view" if view is important..There are rooms that the view is a service road with a "dumster" looking thing for a view..I think its actually an oversized hampster that looks like a dumpster where they put the dirty laundry! We didn't like it, i spend a lot of time on the balcony, i don't mind most views but i don't care for that view.
