We are going to be staying at the Cabins for the first time this year. We wll have 2 DD (5 & 2) and my parents who are both not able to do a lot of walking. Do we want to be near the pool? closer to the campfire area? Which loop do you recommend? THanks for any input you may have =)

You will have a wonderful time at FW! The cabins are beautiful, and they have every amenity you can imagine! Fully stocked with all kitchen appliances, a nice deck with grill & picnic table, full housekeeping like the other resorts, etc. And, they are so nice to come "home" to after a busy day at the parks!

I would highly recommend renting a golf cart - especially for your parents. The cabins are not close to the marina or the Meadows recreation area (pool, trading post, campfire program, etc). There is a pool in the cabin area though that you could walk to.

You will have a bus stop close enough to walk to, but it's much nicer having your own golf cart, so you don't have to wait for a bus, just to go to the trading post or something.

Come on over to the Fort Wilderness board! Everyone there loves to talk about FW and the cabins! :D

We stayed at loop 2600. The small pool was at the top of the loop as well as bus stop and laundry.

I second - rent the golf cart!!

:)

Thanks! I like the message board and will look into loop 2600. Guess we wil be doing the cart thing. Thanks for all your input!

Hi!You will fall in love with FW and the cabins. We also were in loop 2600.Request to be in the first part of the loop. You will be right at the bus stop, pool and laundry.Keep in mind these loops are large,if you are in the back of the loop your parents may have a hard time getting back to the cabin. We were in cabin 2661 and it couldn't be more perfect.I have Multiple Sclerosis so walking from this cabin was not difficult.Have fun!!!!!!

PS Get a golf Cart if it fits into your budget. If not you will be fine once you get your bearings with the bus.

We've stayed in loop 2500 - Cedar Circle - a few times, and I think it's great. It's a smaller loop (33 cabins), so there is less chance that you could be put in the back of the loop far from the entrance. There is a bus stop very close by, and the Wilderness pool is right next to this loop. There are no cabins in the loops around the campfire / Meadow trading post / Meadow pool area or around the Pioneer Hall / Marina / Settlement trading post area.
