WildBlue Satellite internet service

DH and I are considering getting something other than slow dial-up internet service. We live in an area where dial-up is our only choice other than satellite. If we lived 3 miles closer to the city we could take advantage of cable internet, etc. Have any of you heard of WildBlue Satellite service and if so what can you tell me about it? It's cheaper than DirecWav. Is satellite internet dependable and fast? Is it worth the $50+ per month to have it?
