Anyone have any suggestions for a great hotel to stay at in Clearwater Beach or St. Pete. I have been reading too many reviews and people either LOVE or HATE some of these places. Looking for any opinions from DIS folks who I know like at least one thing that i like (DCL). We are considering the Tradewinds Island Grand and Hilton Clearwater Beach. Also open to other suggestions...

Kathy....a rare question about the cruise. Me and the missus are relative "newbies" to this stuff. When do we get our docs? I've heard anywhere from 30 days out to some who don't get theirs until the last week. Any insights?
Have a great day...northerners, southerners, east coast west coast....you're all still the best in my opinion (don't go getting a swelled head Bob...I'm in a mood, ok?)

Okay, I'm not Kathy, and I don't have her wealth of experience on this topic, but on our last cruise, we received our documents about 2 weeks before the cruise. DCL sends them all out at the same time, but if you booked through a TA, the docs may be sent to your TA instead of you. Although it is exciting to get them, there is not anything in there that can be replaced at the port, especially now that you can do the online check-in.

As for the swelled head, mine never swells. I know I am the best, and that is that! :smooth:

Oh my goodness! Jan, a lot of those things could be said about Maine, too - only they have 3 seasons - winter, mud time, July 4th.

Hi everyone,
I hope everyone has a great day. I am doing okay. My dd has been good the last 2 days so maybe things are going to get better.

Have a great day.

•You've heard of 3.2% beer.
•You know what a buckeye really is, and have a recipe for candy ones.
•"Toward the lake" means "north" and "toward the river" means "south."
•You've heard of the Great Nickel Beer Night Riot.
•You know if other Ohioians are from southern or northern Ohio as soon as they open their mouths.
•You can spell and say words like Cuyahoga, Olentangy, Bellefontaine, and Tuscarawas
•You always visit more than two amusement parks in one summer.
•You know that Serpent Mounds were not made by snakes.
•You know what game they're playing when the Mud Hens take on the Clippers.
•“Vacation" means spending a day at Cedar Point or King's Island.
•Down south to you means Kentucky.
•You thought that the Michael Stanley Band was the most popular band in the country (Note to Bill: How many times have we seen them? :rotfl2: )
•You've never met any celebrities.
•Your idea of a traffic jam is ten cars waiting to pass a tractor on the highway.
•You've seen all the biggest bands ten years after they were popular.
•You measure distance in minutes.
•You know several people who have hit a deer.
•Your school classes were canceled because of cold.
•Your school classes were canceled because of heat.
•You've ridden the school bus for an hour each way.
•You've ever had to switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day.
•You know what's knee-high by the Fourth of July.
•All the festivals across the state are named after a fruit, vegetable, or grain.
•You install security lights on your house and garage and leave both unlocked.
•You think of the major four food groups as beef, pork, beer, and Jell-O salad with marshmallows.
•You carry jumper cables in your car.
•You know what "cow tipping" or "Possum Kicking" is.
•Driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow.
•The local paper covers national and international headlines on one page but requires 6 pages for sports.
•You find -20 degrees F "a little chilly".
•BONUS: You know you're from Northeast Ohio when the first words out of your mouth on the opening day of any Cleveland-based professional sports team is: "Wait till next year".

Mutt,
tiggerking is right, about 2 weeks before the cruise they mail out the documents. some people have them mailed by their TA and they take a little longer, but you can fill out and print off documents on line now too. Then all you will have to do is fill out the Bahamas customs form. It is just one small paper and they have extra at the port if you need it.

some people leave for vacation way before their cruise and never get their documents, they can get them at the port to fill out if needed.
But check in is so much faster and easier if you fill it out ahead of time, plus they send you luggage tags to put on your suitcses before you leave them to be loaded on the ship. Again they have extras at the terminal if you leave before yours arrive.

Since we live so close we are always among the first to receive them. I will post when they arrive, Not to be rubbing in the fact I have them and you dont :rotfl2: but to let you know they are on their way!!

You sit down to eat boiled crawfish and your host says, "Don't eat the dead ones," and you know what he means.
That one has me totally intrigued :confused3 . Care to explain??

BTW ... DWtS recap ... sorry, but again I didn't like Sara. She just does have "it".

jd99,
sorry I can t help with the hotels, I have lived here 6, almost 7 years now, but I have never used any hotels in that area.

I have read good reports about the Radisson hotel, which I think is close by. But like I said, I have never been there.
sorry,
Kathy

Shell, when we buy crawfish to boil they come in a sack then we purge them with salt, the dead ones are the ones who were dead BEFORE you poured them into the boiling pot( yes they go into the pot live ) these come out a darker color , than the bright red most are, so we know which ones were dead

I loved the lists so I could so I had to share mine.

When you know you are from New York:
1. You say "the city" and expect everyone to know that this means Manhattan.
2. You secretly envy cabbies for their driving skill.
3. You have never been to the Statue of Liberty or the Empire State Building.
4. You can get into a four-hour argument about how to get from Columbus Circle to Battery Park at 3:30 on the Friday before a long weekend, but can't find Wisconsin on a map.
5. Hookers and the homeless are invisible.
6. The subway makes sense.
7. The subway should never be called anything prissy, like the Metro.
8. You believe that being able to swear at people in their own language makes you multi-lingual.
9. You think $7.00 to cross a bridge is a fair price.
10. You've considered stabbing someone just for saying "The Big Apple".
11. Your door has more than three locks.
12. You go to a hockey game for the fighting. In the stands. To participate.
13. Your favorite movie has DeNiro in it.
14. The most frequently used part of your car is the horn.
15. You consider eye contact an act of overt aggression.
16. You call an 8' x 10' plot of patchy grass a yard.
17. You complain about having to mow it.
18. You are a skee-ball juggernaut.
19. You consider Westchester "Upstate".
20. You cried the day Ed Koch took over for Wapner.

Tonya,
i was wondering the same thing. :confused3 Plus if we are doing it, what are the rule we are going by, such as spending limit, where and when will this take place???

Runa hasnt posted in quite some time, she was the one who brought this idea to us, so I have been waiting for her to respond to us.

Runa, are you still with us??
Please let us know if your still interested in doing the secret santa or not.

Thanks Runa,

Kathy

Well I got my gift today. Why don't we stick with under 10 bucks. Runa, please don't go the way of the Lampy. Speaking of which, I better call him.

Good Afternoon Nana Heads    ,
Today is a very gloomy day and rainy. Me and DS meet my Sister-In-Law and niece for shopping and lunch at the Mall. DS is starting to like to shop :teeth: !! He is not like DH :teeth: !!!! Ds sleep very good last night. Well we just got new neighbors next door and they decided to move in at 12 midnight. Well DH is a very light sleeper so it keep him up till 2am and he got up for work at 5:30am. I did not hear a thing because I am so sleep deprived that I am out when I can sleep ;) ;) ;) !!!
Well I got home from the Mall about 2:30 and was pulling on the TV to watch Gernal Hospital and breaking news a Plane has crashed in an apartment building in the Upper East Side. It was so freaky to see the images because it was like 9-11 again. People were crying and running. Well they have ruled out terrorism for now. A plane with flying in between to buliding. Sounds weird to me!! It just something you don't want to see on the TV again after 9-11!!

Tonya: Good Question are we doing the secret Santa thing?? :confused3 :confused3

About the Secret Santa thing are we going to leave it outside the cabin door and how are we going to know who we have???
