Wii Fit

I think what I've been trying to say is being taken all wrong, and for that I appologize. I'm not here to pass judgement or to make people go out and buy this game system and game, I'm just trying to convey the fact that I'm happy with it and I'm loving what it can do for me.
I will try to do another character on my Wii Fit tonight, if I get the chance, and see if I can go right into the training without having to get my Wii Fit Age. I will report back.

I'm proud of you though JudyS 40 pounds if 40 pounds WAY TO GO! I don't have the magic answer unfortunately on how to lose the last 60 you want to lose, but if you want to try the Wii Fit to help motivate you in the right direction for exercising on your own, then I say go for it, I'll be behind you with encouragement. Like I said though, I'll try out the new character tonight, and let you all know what happens.

Okay, I tried it out, and in order to get onto the game, as a first time user, you DO have to go through the initial BMI results AND Wii Fit Age. BUT once you go through it, you don't have to do it again, unless you want to track your progress. I logged onto mine, and it just let me either do the training or do the BMI test. So "if" you can deal with the initial test and you Mii changing to appear as the game sees fit for the results, I would suggest the game, if not, I wouldn't bother and keep doing what you're doing. It's been working for you thus far, why grease the wheel that doesn't need it? Hope this helps.

I have kind of a weird question about Wii Fit. We live in base housing in Germany. We are on the 2nd floor. I wonder if my downstairs neighbors would hate me if I got one. Do they make a lot of noise? We have wooden floors with a large area rug in the living room.

No, not a lot of noise. Mostly you stay on the board, or step on and off. No jumping involved. The rest is all TV volume.

The only exercises that would make a lot of noise are the two games where you run in place. The room I work out in is upstairs and I'm cautious not to wake my daughter below as I workout at night.

That said, the only real noises coming from the room are grunting, gasping, whining, and occasional swear words directed to the trainer as I struggle to get myself to bend to match him! :faint:

Thanks for the information and the kind words, Craig, and there is no need to apologize! :)

:rotfl: I've already committed to buying one - we love our Wii!! But, I can't seem to FIND one!! HELP!! Any ideas? :confused3 I tried GameStop a few weeks ago and they said they were sold out pre-sale through their first FIVE orders!!

I talked to someone at Target last night, and he said that they are still getting their periodically on their morning trucks, and if you get there at 8am, you can get one. But there is no rhyme or reason as to which stores get them when :worried: The particular store I was in apparently had gotten 20 of them that morning and they were all gone by 8:15am! :confused3

Toys r us periodically gets them in. I would call the store closest to you and ask when they expect their next shipment. You could also try calling Best Buy. Good luck.

I love the wii fit, even today after boxing way too long. I love the rhythmic boxing, but today my arms are killing me. :rotfl2:

I would call around to all the stores near you that would carry them and find out what days their shipments normally come in. I would also find out their hours and call as soon as they open on those days to see if they got any and be prepared to race down there if they did!

I think you'll really like it. I've hardly played anything else since I bought it. Good luck!

To find a wii fit you could use the tracking system people were using to find their wii: http://www.nowinstock.net/video-games/nintendo-wii-fit/
You can sign up to get email notifications when online retailers get them in stock.

Or, according to the LA Times http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/technology/2008/06/how-to-find-the.html, you could:

  • Visit WiiAlerts, a site that notifies people via cellphone or e-mail when the game is in stock at a number of online merchants.
  • Buddy up to store clerks. They sometimes know when a shipment is scheduled to arrive. Some might even call you when the game is in stock.
  • Hit out-of-the way stores. You could get lucky.
  • If you're desperate, check Craigslist or bid on EBay. The markups can be steep, however. We found the $90 game selling for $150 on EBay.

I'm glad I found this thread. I've been thinking about getting the Wii Fit and don't know anyone who has one. I'm glad to hear that people really like it. I wanted to get others opinions before investing in it. I'll soon be picking one up thanks to everyone comments.

this thread is just what i've been looking for too.

I've seen the commercials and was wondering just how much use I might get out of that thing. Hate to spend $$$ and find out it's just a large box to put a plant on....:rotfl2:

I really want to tone up a bit. I've been on WW for a little over a year, just got to goal :woohoo: , but still too too flabby in places - gotta get moving more

I bought a Wii and Wii Fit today. OMG I am addicted!! Even DD9 loves it!!!

Is there any way to bypass the screen that computes your BMI? I really don't need to be told that I'm obese every time I exercise. Since I have no way to change that, it's just going to turn me off from exercising. Also, it sounds like your initial Wii Fit avatar and "age" are based purely on your height and weight -- is there some way to change that or skip that? I've exercised for a couple hundred of hours in the past seven months, and much of it was pretty intense. It would really upset me if the Wii fit ignores all that and and shows me as "old" just because of what I weigh.

Yes, BUT. I think it is important for you to weigh in every day. you can set up a goal weight/ bmi and a time frame and it will tell you if you are headed in the right direction!

I love how encouraging it is!

YOur Wii FIt age is based on your height, weight/BMI and results of the 2 random tests they give you. My Wii FIt age has been 8 years younger and 10 years older and every thing in between. SOme days I am just more steady than others ROFL!

I take my Wii FIt age with a grain of salt, but hope to be within my goal each weigh in, or at least headed in the right direction!

I made a list of every store in my area that I was willing to drive to...Target, WalMart, K Mart, Sears, Toys R Us, Blockbuster Video, Game Stop, EB Games, FYE, Circuit City, Best Buy, Sam's Club and BJ's WHolesaler.

I'd spend a few minutes several times a day calling them. Occasionally I"d get a very helpful person that would tell me when they were expecting them or the best time they think it is to try.

I Finally called one TRU and they said not only did they not get them, but they had no clue when more would be in stock. I called another and they said You're in luck, We are unpacking a bunch right now. 25 minutes later I had one in my hand - there were 6 on the fist shelf I came to.

JUst be persistent, and listen to what each person tells you (Yes, you sometimes will get different answers from the same store) but they are out there!

Best of luck getting one! (mine took about a month of casually looking and about 10 days of serious looking)

I bought my wii fit today sat in the Target parking lot for an hour before the store opened they only got 5 in and I got the 4th one.... My question is for those that have had it some time... has it really made that much of a difference? I hated going to the gym and was hoping that this would be a good way to get around going to the gym.... I did it today for 22 minutes according to the clock bank and did actually feel it in my legs after a while especially after the short distance run.... My goal is to build up to like 45 minutes to an hour

Target tends to get them (or, should I say - put them on the shelf) on Sundays. You should be able to get someone there to give you a straight answer. Standing outside the store ealry on a Sunday morning should get you one.

(that's a lot of "should"s!)

I called around yesterday to local stores during the day. A few had told me that they get their FedEx delivery around noon and if they would have them it would be then. I called 10 stores with no luck. One told me that they did not get FedEx till 5ish and to try back then. I was not optimistic. After work I drove a half hour north to a shopping plaza with walmart, target and best buy, with the idea that if I was going to find one it would be there. After leaving all three dejected, I grabbed a starbucks and headed home the back way. On a whim I called the store with the 5pm FedEx and wouldn't you know it they had just gotten them and had 1 left, but ti was against store policy to hold them! I took off like a bandit down the road. I kept thinking that if a cop stopped me I would have to explain to him why I was going twice the speed limit. As I arrived at the store, I saw a woman walking out with one and I nearly cried. I thought she had mine. When i entered the store though, there is was waiting for me! :cool1:
I did 45 minutes last night of the balance games and cardio stuff. I tried each thing and unlocked the tightrope and special hula hoop and a few "advanced" levels of the other games. I want to get home and unlock some more!
