hi. With the new App My Disney Ecperience...just wondering about whether my Canadian iphone will work with the wifi at the parks? I won't have any data...so I need the wifi to work. Anyone with experience???
We willbe at PORiv 2 weeks from today!!!!!

Free WiFi is available at all parks. It should not matter what your country of origin is--I could use free WiFi in Japan last year with no issues.

Oui , il va travailler pour vous et ce est gratuit, mais il est bilingue non .

( Je plaisante , bien sûr . )

;)

I should also say (in English) that the wifi is very SLOW just about everywhere at WDW (including the resorts.)

It will work. I've used my cell phone in the park (I'm from Canada) to access the free wifi with no problems. Slow at times, but still works.

From a fellow Canuck, if you have a problem loading the app through Disneys spotty wifi just use safari and go directly through the website. We found we had much more luck and less gritted teeth using this method.

I did do that, as well.

Unfortunately, it was not a universal fix.
There were many times (many) when I'd have to try both the app and the site (back and forth) until
I finally got some positive results.

Very frustrating, to say the least.

So slow and even non-existent at times. Came back home to a huge phone bill because with no Wifi my phone used 3G at times when I thought it was still connected to Wifi. I think I heard on a podcast that for folks stateside it might be best to move to a higher data plan before your trip and then switch it back after the trip.

Another option is to purchase a disposable smart phone (USA vendor) for use during the trip.

That's a good idea I may try for next time. I didn't know there was such a thing.

You can do a web search for them.

Look for "no-contract smartphones."

You can absolutely use your Canadian phone in the park. Keep in mind that its a bit of a bummer on your vacation. We used it and then ditched it the next year as we felt it lost its magic. Schedule your fast pass plus and check your phone once during lunch for ride wait times. I see so many ppl attached to their phones and I think it pulls from the experience you might have with your family.

I leave my iPhone on airplane mode with the wifi on so there is no chance for a roaming charge. Worked fine my last trip and can EASILY save you a ton of money instead of chancing using international data without a plan.
