Not an odd name, but I funny story I wanted to share:
On my dad's side, nearly all of the women have either Mary, Katharine (with a variety of spellings) or Louise as their first or middle name (I am Katharine Claire). Louise is from my great-grandma.
A few years after she passed, my aunt was doing some research on great-grandma's life. She came to the Midwest on an orphan train from NY state (she was an older child, 14 or 15) and so my aunt poured over the records, looking for more information. No wonder she had such a hard time finding her - turns out, Great-Grandma wanted a fresh start with a new name when she came to the Midwest. So for years, women in my family have been named Louise and come to find out, her given name was Jeanne.
