Wierdest name you've ever heard

I once worked with a lady by the name of Queen.

She was nice, but I still wonder what are parents thinking when they name their kids? I mean what if the kid was named Precious and was a holy terror?

I had a student in my class last year named Lovely and she was anything but :rotfl:

I once had a co-worker named "Forrest Land".

I also went to school with a guy named "Pleasant Henry Meadows"...it always reminded me of either a Trailer Park or a Cemetery.

My moms name is IONA.

I also work in a elementary school and back a new years ago there were twin girls with the names.....STAR and GALAXY

I just thought of another....

My one daughter spent 2 weeks in the neonatal unit when she was born. There was a baby there with no name... The day before we took my daughter home, that girl was named.

She was getting much better.... and they named her "Miracle Destiny"..... which the sentiment was nice, but I could never see naming a child that.

I have 4 great name stories that I promise are all real...

1. My half-sister's grandmother had a brother whose first name was Pleasant and middle name was Puckett. So his name was Pleasant Puckett Smith (or whatever his last name was). This man has been dead for many, many years, so he was named probably around 1900, when there were quite a few odd names.

2. Case in point, my grandfather on my dad's side was born in 1907, and his first name was Fonnie and his middle name Pink. Needless to say, he preferred to go by F.P. most of the time. He said that Pink was a pretty common name for boys in Mississippi at the time.

3. My sister used to have an employee with twins named Curious and Serious.

4. And finally, my favorite story...one of my friend's wife is a doctor. A few years ago she was working as the supervising doctor at a clinic where she had to be present for all the births. One night she was there and the husband of a woman who was about to give birth to their 5th child approached her in the hallway after she had been in to examine the woman. He asked her if she had a dictionary. My friend's wife said she didn't have one with her but said maybe she could help with how something was spelled. The father said they needed to be sure they were spelling the baby's name right. She asked what the name was and he said "Tyranny." So she spelled it for him, thinking it was kind of odd for a name. Well, as the woman was delivering the baby, the father was down watching her emerge. His first words to his wife upon seeing the baby were, "She looks just like Mayhem!":lmao:

I know of someone named Baby Girl Larry

(Larry is her last name)

also, while shopping at the Cherry Hill Mall one day, I witnessed 2 twin boys terrorize the cashier at the H&M. The one boy picked up a pile of un-registered gift cards and threw them up in the air and she shouted at him

Mom: "DAY DAY, KNOCK THAT OFF"
Son: "Mom, I'm DAH DAH"
Mom: "I know who you are, I named you."

so, there you have it. Dah Dah and Day Day. Although I'd think it was fantastic if she spelled them Da Da and Da Da. Gotta love vowels.

Not someone I knew but I heard a talk show on the radio. A little girl was named La-a. They pronounced it La Dash Ah.

I once had a co-worker named "Forrest Land".

I also went to school with a guy named "Pleasant Henry Meadows"...it always reminded me of either a Trailer Park or a Cemetery.

How funny! I went to college with a guy named Pleasant Willie Ground.

I had a student a few years ago named Demjanjuk. Why would you name your child after a man who has repeatedly been accused and convicted of war crimes? I could almost understand if her parents were part of some white supremicist group (wouldn't be right but at least it would be a reason) but she is African American. Her parents had to have known who he was. We live in Ohio and he has been in the news here for almost 30 years. In fact, the poor girl was born around the same time that he first returned to Ohio after his conviction was overturned. His name was in the news almost everyday at that point.

I had also heard about Le-a (I think someone on the DIS posted about that).
Also, She Nasty (pronounced Shea Na-stay)
Boya and Boyb (the mom said the hospital named the babies -- Boy A and Boy B)

I forgot - we had a little girl in our school last year named Nastiya. It's pronounced nuh-STIGH-uh, but everytime I saw it all I could think was "nasty-uh."

Oh, and this one isn't weird, but I used to work with a woman named Ruby Snow. She was about 80, had bright white hair and always wore fire engine red on her lips and nails.

Long ago, I worked with a woman named Velveeta. Really.

My Great-great grandfather was named Van Dawson, but for some ungodly reason, he went by his initials. That's right, V.D. And, according to my daddy, you did not smile when you said his name, he was reputed to have killed upwards of a dozen men.

But my all-time favorite name is that of South African politician Tokyo Sexwale (pronounced "Sex-Walla"). Can't beat that with a stick as we say down here.

A lady from my hometown named her son Navy Blue.

My mom worked with a lady named Parky Crank!

Princess & Empress (twins)
Sunshine & Starlight (twins)
Precious
Vianette (this isn't terribly weird, I've just only ever met one person with this name)

Years and years ago Cosmo magazine ran a bit about just this subject. The one name I've never forgotten was Sherman Herman Berman (or maybe it was Herman Sherman Berman?) :lmao:

A few years back there was a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader named "Misty Pitts". :sad2: Thats just not right.

We have a good friend of ours that let their toddler daughter name their son...she named him "Jonjo". :)

Bullet and Revolver (they were brothers and these were their given names)

Sh**head (pronounced shi-thade)

There's a girl at my DS's elementary school named Surprise.
