I was wondering if someone could tell me something about the WWS. I am going with my husbandand my father and they are big football fans. I though t this would be a great place that they would realy like. I would like some more info on htis if some one has it.:p

Wide World of Sports is a world-class athletic facility that includes a baseball stadium (Crackerjack Field), An indoor arena for basketball and volleyball (The Fieldhouse), a Football field, softball fields, tennis courts, and the Official All-Star Cafe. Many amateur atheletic events take place at WWoS each year, including Amateur Athletic Union, Pop Warner championships, cheerleading and dance competitions for all age groups, Orlando Rays Minor League Baseball, Atlanta Braves Spring Training, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers Training Camp (which starts soon). The VP of the complex is NFL great Reggie Jackson. For more information, call (407)939-GAME for more information or to purchase tickets.

Steve, why did I think Reggie Jackson was a basesball player? Shows how much I know about sports

Reggie played for the Cincinatti Bengals (he was also a member of the City Council there).
Another famous athlete from years gone by, Bo Jackson, played both football and baseball, and perhaps you were thinking of him (same last name).

**I really don't know that much about sports, only when they have something to do with Disney...**

So this isn't the Reggie Jackson of Oakland Athletics and NY Yankees fame? "Mr. October"?

So can you go there and just wonder around and play a little. Like could my husband and father go run some passes to each other. Stand on hte footballl feild and other stuff. Could I run bases and pitch. Or is this something to only do when there is something going on?

Thank you for the help

You know what? Probably. Like I said, I don't really know much about sports, and the bit about Cincinatti was taken directly from this week's Eyes and Ears. Thanks for expounding.

Mrs. P,
I think they used to have a program called "The NFL Experience" which was a sort of interactive fan experience (the kind of thing they run outside of the stadiums before the Super Bowl), but I have no idea if they still have it. Seems like I heard that it was discontinued, but I'm not sure. Primarily, WWOS is a place to go see athletic events. Bucs training camp starts soon, and that would probably interest them, but I don't think they could run around and play (unless they were going out for the team).
407-WDW-GAME will have more information certainly.

Maybe someone knows otherwise, but I strongly suspect you would not be permitted to use any of the athletic fields or facilities, unless you were a participant in a scheduled (read "paid for") event. I'd love to go run on the track, play a pickup game on the soccer fields, etc., but I don't think it's intended to be used in that way.
