I started to talk about/plan this trip 4 years ago on the plane going home from a 5-day Disney trip. I told my SO(Karen) I had to go back for my 50th birthday. I just had to. Her 2 syllable answer was all I needed to get the ball rollin'. "OK",she said. She had no idea I started planning immediately. And plan I did!!!! Occasionally I'd say,"whatdaya think about stayin' at AKl or the Dolphin?" Or, I'd ask about different parks and activities. The response was always the same,"whatever you wanna do is fine with me." She had no idea......
So I planned a wicked pissa trip!!!! 11 days at WDW. We would stay 5 nites at AKL and 6 nites at the Dolphin. The planning was outa control!!!!

Monday,6/28
We arrived at good ol' Logan Airport at 6 am for our 8am flight.
What a snap it was using E-tickets!! (If you're afraid to do this, don't be. This was so wicked easy. I can't believe I was freekin' about this!!)
The flight was smooth, but I had a tough time. I don't do well sitting for long periods of time. It was the longest 3 hours!!!!!
And it didn't help I was sitting next to a guy that grunted the WHOLE trip!! Then,we had a "fight " over the armrest. The little stinker thought he'd take the whole armrest!! I don't THINK so little man....... By the time we landed in Orlando I had a really bad headache. But,I didn't care,we were on vacay!!!
We headed down to get our bags and off to the Budget rental . As we approached Budget ,Karen says,"OMG!!!!! Look at the line!
We'll be here for atleast an hour!!" I say to her,"Man,wouldn't it be nice to blow this line?" (I love goofin' on her like this!). I say to her,"c'mon,we aren't waitin' in no freekin line!" She had no idea about the FastBreak option, remember,I did the planning.
We got a brand new Ford Focus(nice little car!) and off we went to AKL. Of course,Karen is so impressed that I know the way. "How do you know your way?" "And how did you know about that FastBreak thingy?" How???? The DIS!!!!!!! By mid week,Karen loved the DIS.
We pull in to AKL,and we're both like,"WOW!!!! This place rocks!!!" We loved it! I booked a standard room with an AP discount. We were assigned room #5007. My 50th birthday was on July 7th! The room was nice. No balcony, but at this point we didn't care.
By now my head is pounding like an African drum. I knew the day was going to be a total loss. I needed to medicate and sleep.
Karen went to the pool for the afternoon which was fine with her.
I slept for 5 hours, woke up and the pounding was gone!! Now I could enjoy my vacation!
I made a ton of PS's before I left home. Of course,Karen had no idea what a PS was!! So,when we went to Boma at 6:30pm and it was mobbed, she was preparing for a long wait after hearing the CM tell the man infront of us 45 minutes to an hour! I look at her and say,"wouldn't it be nice to blow this line?" She says to me,
"FastBreak??" Nope,no FastBreak,PS!!! We're seated right away.
She's totally impressed. She looks at me and says,"the DIS?"
Yup,you got it. I learned it on the DIS...
We loved Boma. We're people who love to try different kinds of food and drink so we really enjoyed the variety. We left there wicked stuffed and decided to check out the resort and hit the sack. The next morning we would go to AK.

Tuesday,6/29
We get up early, and I go down to get us coffee and a bagel to split cuz neither one of us is all that hungry. When the CM tells me the total for our measely breakfast,I'm feelin' wicked ripped off!! We're not cheap, but we work hard for th'money and $9.00 for that breakfast is outrageous. We decide we'll buy the mugs($12 each)and go grocery shopping when we get back from AK.
Mara at AKL is a total rip off. Unfortunately, there's not much people can do if they don't have a rental car to shop. Disney really needs to take a look at the prices here.

AK is our favorite park. We are very into animals and this park is just awesome. We did all the rides with no wait using Fastpass.
Karen looked at me and just said,"the DIS,right?" Yup. The DIS.
It was 97 degrees June 29th. I was feelin' like a packmule with
my waistpack and big ol' Brita bottle hangin off me. I knew this getup wasn't gonna fly for long...

We get back from AK and decide we'd go find a Grocery store.
I'm one of those people who love to drive and explore different places. So,I had no problem finding my way around Disney or outside of Disney. I found my way to a Publix on 192 that was shopped by locals and we got one of the best subs we ever had!!
The lady behind the counter was named Maritsa. She was a doll.
Didn't speak very good English but I told her we were going to eat one of her subs instead of going to a fancy restaurant(Karen says I'm a shmooza) and I swear, she packed this mega subroll with more stuff than I have ever seen!! It was humongous!!! And,wicked good!! We spent $35.00 and had tons of great food for breakfast and snacks. Bagels, creamcheese, muffins, watermelon, crackers, beer, wine, cheese, pepperoni, cereal, and a 2-ton sub!!

We hung around the hotel that night, found some great lookout areas that no one else found and took lots of pictures .
If you go to AKL,make sure you walk to the end of each trail in the hotel. Go out the EXIT doors and you will be face to face with
animals!!!

I'll be back to post more! Gotta go airbrush and pay for this trip!!!LOLOL

I agree with you about Mara! The cost of a little carton of milk was $2.25!!!

The animals are awesome. We had some right under our window one evening and they were fighting -- locking their horns. Then they walked off together.

Look forward to more of your "wicked" trip.

I couldn't stop laughing! Being from Boston myself, I realy miss that "wicked pissa" accent. Thanks for the laughs airhead and I hope you have a "totally awesome" time!

being from maine......wicked is a regional word........thanks for posting

When I first moved here I always wondered why they had tables and chairs in Publix...who wants to eat in a grocery store. As you found out, it's because Publix makes a mean sub. Actually, all of the food back in the bakery/deli is pretty good (best fried chicken around)...makes for a good, quick dinner. Glad you enjoyed your trip.

Where I live(Ma),you never buy stuff like that at a market! so we were wicked surprised it was so good!

I am totally loving your report! I just found out how to mess around with the options at the bottom of the page to find the "thread starters"! Anybody who hasn't figured this out...it sure saves a heckuvalotta time! I was determined to read your report in order but the thought of scrolling through all those pages, squinting for part 1, part 4, etc. was not appealing! Tink must have sprinkled some pixie dust because for no reason I accidentally pushed a button and after a minute I was shouting, "Eureka!"

...and now to read your reports! This one has me laughing outloud at your take on life, your delight in amazing Karen by all the magic wrought by Dis info...and at my total misunderstanding of "wicked pissa". (this phrase is what started me on the hunt for the begining of your thread in the first place.

Without having read any of your reports until just now, I originally thought you were a teenager and didn't know how to spell pizza. How lame is that? I mean, whoever heard of a teenager who couldn't spell pizza?

I gotta ask..is this term a common one in New England?...and am I correct in translating "wicked" as "majorly" and "pissa" as "fantastic to the point of excess or perfection, whichever comes first"?

Now I gotta get back to reading about your trip. Thank you!

Ozymoe,
"Wicked pissa" is a Massachusetts phrase that means awesome or totally cool. I used to live in MA for most of my life and have said that phrase to some of my non-Mass friends only to have them crack up laughing asking "What did you say?" Don't feel alone. I've never heard anyone say that phrase outside of MA.

:D

lol...so "majorly fantastic" wasn't too "westa wister"? (someone gives a link to Boston slang later in these reports...don'tcha think I'd make a good Bostonian...I'm wicked workin' on my accent!

Ooops...I meant, "westa wistah"...guess I have to work on my accent a tad more.

BTW, that Boston slang site is too funny! This definition especially just cracked me up:

PSDS (say these letters outloud)

...What you get when you want to wear earrings.

Reuven Brauner submits the following similar examples:

We saw BSNDS at the zoo in Franklin Park.
We bought it at CS and Roebuck's.

see,its not hahd ! If you lived heah for a month, you'd nevah need to say the lettah "R' again!!!!

Great report!! Im just finding it now!!! (better late then never!!!:)
Im off to read the rest!!! :sunny:

:D I love AKL also...one of my favorite resorts...

LOL at the guy grunting!!!
I grew up in Boston "Southie" what part of Boston are you from. We called our subs Spuckies, so I'm guessing your not from Southie.

This report is too funny!! I just knew you had to be from mass by the title to your thread! (I'm on the cape);)

I have no clue what wicked pissa means and there is nothing called a Publix here in CA, but I am imensley enjoying your trip report and will continue to read on. We always buy breakfast items ahead of time to eat in the room (if we don't have a refrig, we bring a cooler). The prices resorts charge for the basics is utterly ridiculous!

Looking forward to the next day:)

Oh...and sorry it is soooo hot, that can be tough.
