They are both neat and your kids will love either one. Once inside the restaurants your kids may not even know the difference. They are laid out a bit different but almost all have the same theming inside.
I guess it would really depend on when you plan on going. The RC at DTD can get very busy, especially for dinner hours. It's not uncommon to have 2+ hour waits for dinner in the busy season. We always get a PS/reservation for the DTD location if we plan to eat there. You can usually get into the one at AK pretty quickly except it can be busy around the time AK closes.
The RC at DTD does have the volcano though and I can remember seeing the birds there but don't think I have ever seen them at the AK location.
If you go to the Rainforest Cafe at AK you can use the Magic Kingdom Lunch Vouchers for lunch or dinner. These are a GREAT value when you use them here - a whole lot of food for $30
we can't wait to use our vouchers at RFC @ AK, I'm very curious as to how much will be saved.
Seeing how much I can save is just a hobby with me. and a hobby my husband just loves
They definitely have the volcanos at AK, we sat near the kitchen...Considering the uncrowded restaurant, it was pretty annoying to hear "VOLCAAAAAANNNOOOOOOO" every 2-3 minutes....ugh. I do love that restaurant though...
