We were at BWV at Thanksgiving and the Wi-Fi in the grand villa was iffy at best ended up using the ethernet cable, We'll be at AKV in a couple of weeks and wondered how it was working there.
TIA

I just used it at OKW, and it was very, very slow. My iPad ran quicker with the 3G. Next time I will bring my router with me and make my own wireless connection. That's what I've done in the past, but I thought the wifi would be okay this time.

We were at AKV Kidani last week and used the wifi. It went down several times a day and ran slowly. But it was nice not to have to use the cable.

We were at OKW between Christmas and New Years and found the wi-fi to be an "it depends." It depended upon the time of day and the spot in the room. There seemed to be network congestion early in the morning and late in the evening. Also I would walk around the room to locate the spot with the strongest signal.

Just returned yesterday from a 3 nite stay at BCV. My inlaws' Windows based lap top worked fine with the Wi-Fi. My Apple was kicked off after two web site clicks every time I signed on. Did not have this problem at BLT in December, 2011. Disney IT has their hands full.

Please contact Member Satisfaction regarding poor wi-fi. Things will not get better unless they are aware that improvements must happen. Wi-fi has been in place long enough that problems should be pretty well resolved by now and that does not seem to be the case.

Ditto to jekjones suggestion. Anyone who has had problems should send a complaint to member satisfaction, dvcmembersatisfactionteam@disneyvacationclub.com. I have done so after spending a week at BWV where the wireless system shut down constantly and they called to at least tell me they would pass the complaint along to Disney which is apparently responsible for the system. We obviously have a typical situation where some Disney MBA suits thought this up and decided to go cheap. Since they have an imbedded interest in justifying and keeping the failure of a system they put in place, it is going to take a lot of complaints for Disney to come to realization that the sytem should be fixed so it actually works.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll bring a router.

FYI... Rumor on the street is that the wired connections are slowly going away. I'm right there with ya. I'm taking mine in 2 weeks but not counting on it working.

When I was working with the new tech support team last December I was told that the hard wired connection belongs to the old vendor and that it is no longer supported.

They did tell me that it is scheduled to be disconnected sometime during the first quarter.

I used the wifi at BWV a few weeks ago and had no problems with it. It was fast and never went down.

It might depend on where room is. We were also at BWV a few weeks ago in a boardwalk view two bedroom (2d floor Crest of Waves area) and the wireless was atrocious.

Used the wifi at OKW 4 weeks ago with both an iPad and windows machine without any issues. In fact it was fast.
