Why

I'm 18 months older than DH, and we will celebrate our 15th anniversary in January. My Mom, Sis, and Grandma (paternal) all married younger men.

Grandparents are celebrating their 65th anniversary this summer, Mom and dad 42, and Sis and BIL 14. :goodvibes

I agree with your sis, but once you get older you think that would even up
Nope, we never mature. We just age. :thumbsup2

It probably comes from the old days when people married at a much younger age. At young ages, yes, the girls mature faster than boys. That isn't the case today with people marrying in their late 20's and 30's, but wold have been the case when the norm was marrying right out of high school at age 18-20. It is something that just generally carried on from the old days similar to the threads on wedding showers and wedding gifts. Today, wedding couples don't need stuff to start a household because most of them are old enough to already have had a household established and just combine the 2 households.

I am 8 years older than DH. It was a second marriage for both of us. I was 35 he was 27. He was very mature due to what he had to deal with with ex. But I'm a firm believer that maturity is way over-rated.:rotfl: He shares my love of Disney and we have been having great fun for 26 years now with no end in sight. I have to admit he had to convince me to marry someone so much younger, but I'm glad he wouldn't take no for an answer!

I am older than my DH, only 6 months older, but I didn't marry an older man.

I was 29 when we got married and he was 28.

DH is two years younger than me.

Now that he is looking better as he ages and I am getting wrinkly I am worried about him running off!

I've married younger and older. First husband was 2 years older. Second was 6 years younger. Third was 4 years younger. My soon to be fourth is 6 years older. Makes no difference they still all act like 16 year old boys :lmao:

Same here!!! Cept I was 37 and he was 29. We've been married 7 years this summer! :lovestruc I look at men my age and most of them look way too old for me!

I always dated guys at least 2 years older than me. But now, I'm older than my fiance - by a whole 2 weeks! :p

Dh is 4 years younger than me. But in many ways he seems more mature than I am.

Many reasons, but one I haven't seen here yet...

Procreation. Women have a limited amount of time they are fertile, in most cases the younger you are, the easier it is to get pregnant. And of course, the younger you are when you have your first, the more time you have to have multiple children, if you choose.
The man being older is financially advantageous, because presumably he is already established in his career, making good money, has saved up some money, etc. For many women, if they wait until after they have established their career, are at a high earning point, saved up money, etc. they are already at the time where it starts getting more difficult to get pregnant.

Women have to date older men cause the ones of their own age are too immature.

Least, that's what my sister used to tell me.

On average, that is definitively true.

Also, a 35 year old man will still be fertile for a long time, but a woman the same age (or younger) has a ticking biological clock.

My mother is almost 7 years older than my father.... so its not always!
She also was still married (though the guy had skipped town) and had 4 kids when they met. Did I mention that my father was only 19 when they met? Yeah, love is a crazy, crazy thing!!!

This is a very solid and rational answer.
