Changes to Garden Grill and LTT

I'm sure they are changing it to increase turnover in the restaurant. I think it's sad to lose this character meal thst so many people enjoy. But because of character rotation it takes 60-75 mins to eat and see the characters. If they take away the characters they could turn over meals in 45-60 mins and that increases capacity and profit.
Sad but true.

Sorry to read this,LTT was a must do before MNSSHP! Teresa was a great waitperson....we loved her 2 years in a row! Her costume was great!
Bobbi:goodvibes

I have an ADR for Dec 13 that I was planning on canceling. Now I wonder if I should keep it to have the experience one last time.:confused3

Not sure why they are doing it, but no one has heard anything about a new menu. It just seems like they've taken away the characters for no reason at all.

I wonder if they will be lowering the price of food....

I will miss LTT but it does sound interesting that there might be a possibility of character dining continuing but with new characters. I'm not against change within the Disney restaurants but I would like for some form of character dining to remain in the park other than Crystal Palace and the Cinderalla's Table. My son does not like the princess or Pooh characters but loves the traditional Disney characters such as Pluto, Goofy, Minnie, Chip and Dale.

I'd be glad to see the character meal replaced with a new menu!! :thumbsup2
And that really alludes to a like answer to the OP: Evidently, enough of us wanted another non-character dining experience inside the MK.

It's Sad, I liked Mickey & Minnie's costumes, very patriotic.
I have read it on several other reliable web sites also.
I don't know if I'd eat dinner their without it being a Character Meal.
IF you have ADR's already booked their, I'd call Dining and find out the sitch!

I would actually like to see more OR new Character Dining Meals.
But I really thought this was a popular one....

Kinda OT, but do they ever merge threads? I know I didn't post my question on this thread, but now it's on page 10 or something. The page I posted my question on was on page one, only the 4th or 5th post. Plus, the thread I posted on had nothing to do with GG, only LTT. So, I guess I answered my own question, yes the merge threads.

As long as they upgrade the menu with great food choices, it could make up for no characters. If it stays the same menu w/o characters, we will not be choosing LTT anymore.

I am sad about getting rid of the characters at LTT. I did email Disney to express my disappointment. I did mention that it couldn't be a cost cutting move because the profit margin had to be high since they served frozen stoffers food. Or hopefully they will lower the price (yeah right  )

However, I sure do like Disney's spin on things lately, due to guest demand. Right, just like "we" demanded to be charged a premium for dining during the holiday season. That is their answer to every change lately.

Very disappointed.

Take this for what it’s worth:

I just got off the phone with Disney dining. I found out through the CM about my Garden Grill lunch ADR (actually, I was told that there will still be lunch offered – just not the characters) I did change my lunch ADR to a dinner.

I asked the CM why they were taking out some of the character meals. She said that she’d been reading that when the new restaurants open at Pleasure Island (the ones that will replace the night clubs their taking out) several of them are scheduled to be character meals. She also said that one of the PI restaurants will have the dining with an Imagineer.

Ugh, the DTD area will be completely inconvenient IMO. I don't see me leaving the resort, going there for a meal then heading to the parks.

No offense, but since when does Disney make decisions based on what the public claims to want ? If anything, lately, it seems that all they're doing is taking things away that the guests liked - especially in the food/wine department.

If they're planning to move character meals over to DTD / PI, that explains a lot. DTD would be more kid friendly, hence more families would go, and would spend their money in the shops. I wouldn't be surprised if they turned PI into a large Toontownish shopping/dining center.

As usual it's all about the bottom line. How do we get guests to spend more money than they already are ?

If you're using Disney transportation, you wouldn't even be able to do that since there are no buses between DTD and the parks. You'd have to take a bus from DTD to a resort, then another bus/monorail to a park. Total inconvenience.
