Why was Buzz ride so filthy?

Every time we went on this the entire first week is was re-opened the waiting area looked as if a tornado hit it. Garbage and junk just all over the floor. The first time we thought it was strange but really started to wonder the next few times we went back on (different days). I thought overall the parks were much dirtier than I had ever seen them (visited 2/7-2/14/06).

I have noticed that as well on all trips in the recent past. It looks like the circus parade went thru---really really gross.

And I have always noticed there is always a puddle somewhere, even when it has not rained--I can only imagine.

Hmmmm...we were there 1/22-1/29 & did not notice the park being dirty.

We did not get to ride Buzz as it was closed at that time.

Wow, that is so disappointing to hear... :worried:

Why are they allowing this to happen? I went to WDW the year it opened with my parents...the MK was absolutely spotless, of course. It was that way each time I visited (every other year, usually) up until our trip in 2000. That was when I first noticed the slight decline in upkeep and cleanliness, but it was very slight at first. It was a little worse in 2002, then again in 2004...I'm afraid of what I'll see in May, 2006 when we take our next trip!

It makes me sad when I look at my childhood vacation pictures of WDW from the 1970s (and my adult trips in the 1980s-1990s, too). Oh well, I guess I'm just "waxing nostalgic". I know times have changed (sadly) and it's probably impossible to keep the parks like they used to be.

While we didn't ride "Buzz" during our trip last November/December, the parks seemed to be in good shape then.

Have you seen that line? It's meandering and very close together and moves relatively quickly. Don't know how they could get someone in to clean it up unless they do it at slow times. The folks in line ought to be throwing their junk into trash cans. Are there even trash cans inside?

Hmmm - with all the trash cans that Walt planned in his parks, so no one would have to carry a piece of trash too far, why aren't the visitors simply throwing their own trash away rather than waiting for a CM to clean up after them!!!

Come to think of it, first time I brought an infant (8mo) in 2003 I thought the bathrooms were spotless and it was such a pleasure to use the changing tables within the park bathrooms...well this time, almost 3 years later, all I could think of was thank gosh my toddler is potty trained. The bathrooms were okay but not spotless by any means...all parks included.

This seems to be a nasty, growing trend everywhere - no one bothers to clean up after themselves. Drop something on the floor, don't worry, someone else will pick it up. Leave something on the seat, don't worry, someone else will clean it up. Finish eating in the food court, just leave the garbage and tray right there, don't worry, someone else will throw it out and stow the tray. It's amazing; people wouldn't do this in their home [I surely hope! ], yet, when in public, apparently that all goes out the window, along with common courtesy and consideration for the next person. :worried:

What I noticed was hundreds of guests who didn't care if they picked after themselves. I would watch people throw things on the ground and everyone walk around it. I picked it up. DH made fun of me. Oh well. I saw many attendants picking up trash in the park and after a parade or fireworks they had those machines buzzing immediately. I think the decline has more to do with guests then Disney.

You're 150% right about that! It's a result of people growing up and not teaching their kids manners. Sad but true. The poor CMs can't keep up with all the rudeness!

On a different but related note (and does not explain all the garbage/paper on all days), on a windy day, I have noticed that there seems to be a wind tunnel effect with paper going from outside into the Buzz attraction queue area

cheers

Maybe this was the problem? I don't remember it being very windy but that's what it looked like...

Perhaps, as I can't tell you how many times I saw people on their cell phones during an attraction. One woman just wouldn't give up during the Country Bear Jamboree...she must have made/taken about 4 calls.

I also noticed there was a rougher element within the parks that I had never seen before. I remember mentioning to DH that Disney has made it so easy to afford a vacation that it's attracting all kinds.
