Why the PIN blackout dates in Oct?

I was just curious if anyone had any thoughts on why for the PINs that people have been receiving is 10/9-10/22 blocked out? I know Food & Wine is taking place, but that is for the whole month and the PINs are good for the beginning and end of the month. I haven't been able to find any marathons mid-month. Can it really be just Columbus Day?? Seems like a long blackout for that. I'm sure I'm missing something...

They did the same thing last year with the monster pin...except blockout was 10/10 - 10/23 and 40% across the board. The only reasons I could come up with is a combination of fall break, Columbus Day, and F&W Fest.

We were there last oct 17-24 during a blackout time. There was a huge conference. They even had buses running from the various disney resorst to the conference. Someone told me it is the same time each year. It made the parks much busier than I expected for october but it was still manageable

Also school Fall Breaks tend to fall around Columbus Day Weekend.
