Above posting was part of the great thread going about WEARING or NOT WEARING socks to bed in the evening...

SSB was wondering... as he decided to try NOT wearing socks last night for first time.... (an interesting experience this AM)

Has the DIS ever influenced you to try something new, different, crazy or just FUN... that you would not have done otherwise???

SSB knows that I am constantly seeing "reminders" of the DIS in real life, and just curious if any others have funny stories of linkage, or changes.

Mr. EROS, loved the Marilyn pics.... not NICOLE ... but "classic"!

:) ;) :)

I tried Yankee Candles for the first time, does that count?

THAT is a great example...

As a matter of fact.... SSB bought several for gifts with some other DIS'ers...!!!! Had forgotten about that one!!

:)

Er...um...yeah, but I am not sure I can post about that here....lol ;)
OK, only kidding...

Ok, I would have NEVER stayed at the Swan and Dolphin had it not been for the DIS...lol...I swear true!!!

Would have never had a beavertail
drank a sombrero (thanks CAK)
visited Chicago
traveled alone
worn make up
lost 50 pounds

wow lots of stuff huh???

Okay, I'll admit...

I watched Big Brother 3's live feed :earseek:

I'm giving Vin Diesel another look...

but I'm STILL not taking my kid to Hooters for his birthday! :teeth:

LOL at some of these!
Okay, I haven't done this yet, but I can't wait to try Guavaberry Rum!!

Oh, and I would never have done DATW without this group!

Corinne:wave:

Lots of unmentioable and mentionable things. I'll name a couple of the mentionable things here;) :

-Venus Razor (thanks Serena)
-If popcorn is mentioned, sometimes I gotta pop me some popcorn:o
-If TDS is mentioned, I gotta go there
-When WDW is mentioned, I just wanna cry I wanna be there;)

I'd better stop here, I'm thinking of that unmenitionble stuff now.;)

but I'm STILL not taking my kid to Hooters for his birthday!

  ;) :D

The only thing I can think of at the moment is..........well.........I don't think there's anything metioned here on the DIS that I probably haven't tried........I guess the only thing would be staying at the Polynesian....if it hadn't been for all the rave reviews I would've stayed at the Wilderness Lodge that trip instead. The RB convinced me to try the Poly.

Interesting question, SSB! :)
First and foremost, I would have never even entertained the idea of meeting complete strangers that I met on the internet if it weren't for the DIS! LOL
I wouldn't have done a DATW either. ;)
I wouldn't have jumped up in front of a huge crowd and sang Karoake without the DIS! This one is very, very true!!!!!! :p :p
I wouldn't have become a Yankee Candle fan either. I always went for the cheapie candles who (sorry) don't hold a candle to YC! :D
I wouldn't have become a pinhead to the extent I am if it weren't for the many DIS pin traders I've met. Pin trading can be contagious. ;)
There have been many product and restaurant recommendations that prompted to me to give these a try, too. :)
These are a few off the top of my head, but I'm sure there's more. :)

Forgot to mention-I do occasionally wear socks to bed, but not on a regular basis.;)

Barb, I agree with you. I would have never considered meeting people in real life that I met on the Internet. And, here I am, planning to take an Illuminations cruise with two other families from here. Oh, and I would have never taken an Illuminations cruise if I hadn't heard about it here and knew the people I was riding with were from here.

Well.....will you do it again? ;)

So I would of never talked on a BB.....never would of gone to a disney meet and see twenty or so people that I have chatted with on line and all of a sudden met in person....YIKES....I hyperventilated when we got to the cape...I would of never talked to SSB by myself.....with two lemonade stand helpers standing by ....yikes.....and being a chat host was something that I never thought I would be able to do...all thanks to the dis and the people here.....I am not a stick in the mud anymore......thanks everyone

I never would have flown to WDW twice in the same month

never would have tried the Swan or Dolphin

I would have never gone to WDW solo if it weren't for DIS.
I probably would have missed MVMCP.
Like glo, I would have never stayed at the Dolphin (been there twice now).
I probably would not have ever set foot ina Bath & Body Works.
I would not have bought tires in South Bend (Indiana) on the way to my 3rd Chicago DISmeet.

And I would have never met 40,000 of the nicest people in the whole world.

I DEFINITELY would not have accepted an invitation to meet WillyJ for my first DIS meet at the ESPN Zone!!! Who IS this strange man emailing me??? :earseek:

I KNOW I would have never experienced a 3 bedroom executive suite at the Dolphin, which I CRIED the day I left... :teeth:

but mostly I never would've believed in a MILLION years, that people can be this genuine, this kind and this wonderful. So after 31 years as a hardened New Yorker and 46 years as a skeptic, the DIS has influenced me to do one thing...

:bounce:TRUST. :bounce:

I would have never written a James Bond parody featuring Dan, RoutemanDan.

Who I understand may be staring in another epic. Time will tell.

I would have never got into Pins, and I would never have started collecting Disney Snowglobes, if it weren't for the DIS! :)

I also have Serena to thank for my switch from Lady Bic to Venus razor. :)

I'm hooked on my George Foreman grill thanks to Pumba.

I was a fan of Bath & Body Works and Yankee Candle before the DIS, but certainly not to the extreme that I am now.

I have seen countless movies that I may have never seen if I didn't get a thumbs up from people I have things in common with on the DIS. I tend not to trust critics when it comes to movie reviews, but I do trust friends I know like the same things as I do.

I'm quite sure my dear husband would never dream I might refer to him as DH. :) Futhermore, I'm also quite sure he never dreamed that he would receive a phone call from the one and only Dan Murphy while on the roof on the White House. :teeth:

I may have gone to WDW once or twice since our first family trip in 1999, I highly doubt I would have been there 6 times since then.

I'm sure I'll think of more of these....... :)

DIS meets and meeting so very many wonderful people in many parts of the country, and becoming very good friends with many folks here.

Most of the many 'extra' things we did on our family trip at WDW back in '99. Illumination cruise, luau, parasailing, MK fireworks cruise, MVMCP, wonderful eating, CP dinner package, on and on.

Yankee Candles, Oxyclean (just this week), Starwood Preferred Club, Emerald Aisle, and camaraderie for all those things which ail either Lady M or myself.

The best though, are the many friendships of the folks here on the DIS, most all being a very caring group indeed. I know there are for sure many more, these are but a few that pop right up.
